I really enjoy your thought process in this post... Just thought I would toss in my 2 cents.
From my perspective, one of the hardest aspects of working with belts isn't JUST the compression issues/etc, but also balancing n to n lances of resources... if we could get a more variable n to n balancing ...

When queuing up an obscene amount of stuff to craft, I noticed when crafting by hand, copper wire is a component of another intermediary product, it generates at 1 per .5s.
I did not analyze other 2x output crafts as intermediary products, like a red belt craft... but just came across this one ...
