Re: Tileable 5.6 GW Nuclear Power Plant with Steam production

If you are shooting for a fixed size reactor the placing the same number of heat exchangers and turbines at every reactor is perfectly fine. Any unfueled reactor must not act as a Heat Pipe. The top/bottom reactors will just leach a little bit of heat from the other reactors. Where to read? As a ru...

Re: Extensible 5,494.08 GW Nuclear Power Plant with Steam production

Another thought: A buffering cluster of accumulators between the nuclear power plant & the base that is monitored to calculate the fuel cells needed. This could a) compensate a fluctuating energy consumption and b) monitor the effective energy consumption. Since accumulators have the same unit (...

Re: Extensible 5,494.08 GW Nuclear Power Plant with Steam production

Two things to mention: There's no possibility to remove loaded uranium fuel cells from a reactor. I've just tried this even with a stack filter inserter filtered with such cells. Inserters of any kind do only pull out used up cells. So, only manual removing is possible at this time. Monitoring steam...

Re: Tileable 5.6 GW Nuclear Power Plant with Steam production

I didn't say to add more heat exchangers. The top and bottom row should keep the same number of heat exchangers as they currently have. But The position of the offshore pump in the long and short rows differs. I said to move the offshore pump in the short row to where it is in the long row. That wa...

Re: Tileable 5.6 GW Nuclear Power Plant with Steam production

Well, your alarm is set to say "[the reactors] are about to shut down!", but they're not really, as you still have (potentially) up to 4800 pieces of fuel in the chests alone, not counting what is circulating on the belts (which, with some very rough calculations, is between 700 and 950 a...

Re: Tileable 5.6 GW Nuclear Power Plant with Steam production

Just don't do any false advertising. Pardon? It was never my intention to name something wrong. I have changed the topic & added some change notes. Since you claim tileable please do fix your top and bottom row. It's in the description that those two rows are intentional, matching their reactor...

Re: Tileable 5.6 GW Nuclear Power Plant with Steam production

Beware, the 5.82 is a correct value to use for precision coming from here => https://wiki.factorio.com/Steam_turbine But the 103 is not, it is a rounded value already from 103.0927835 => https://wiki.factorio.com/Heat_exchanger I found it easier to use 10MW as the value for heat exchangers, as reac...

Re: Tileable 5.6 GW Nuclear Power Plant with Steam production

It's not clear why you need so many pumps while a setup like in this post from your previous thread a week ago works just as well completely without a single pump. Steam flows on its own. It achieves exactly the same thing. It's truly tileable without first removing anything, it truly outputs maxim...

Re: Tileable 5.6 GW Nuclear Power Plant with Steam production

why do steam buffers exist, while there is no fuel throttling? Buffers are needed for fluctuation in production to bridge higher consumption at a time of lower production, however since this setup always does produce the maximum amount of heat, there is no such thing as lower production. I didn't k...

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind and will try out some day. At the moment, it's interesting to me to do "live tests". Since I have an infinite resource mod installed, I don't worry about shortages any more, so the mind is free for experiments. 8-)

Extensible 5,494.08 GW Nuclear Power Plant with Steam production

After hours of experimenting what's the highest efficacy of transporting nuclear heat and converting it into steam while providing a maximum load without any losses, I've created the following setup: 2023-03-30_164213.png 2023-03-30_174922.png I recommend a mod like Pump Anywhere for problem-free wa...

Roboports: balancing inventory

Simple question: How can I balance all roboports in my logistic network to have the same amount of logistic as well as construction robots, including repair packs? I know of other threads that asked similar questions with ideas like locking inventory slots manually or make the content of this port o...

Re: Fluid system: only 1st Storage Tank is filled to 25k and only with a pump

I've just remembered another question: The fluid level in a flowing pipe is a stable equilibrium that the player doesn't have to worry about. I've noticed that a pipe as well as a tank displays only liquid level but not flow speed. If there's no flow speed how can a player know how it's working if t...

Re: Fluid system: only 1st Storage Tank is filled to 25k and only with a pump

Thanks for the explanations and the blueprint, that's an interesting one. I've noticed that the heat exchanger pipelines are divided, so it isn't possible to support all turbines with a single line?

Re: Fluid system: only 1st Storage Tank is filled to 25k and only with a pump

How much steam level do you need to ensure a maximum consumption of 60/s? It needs to have an input flow rate of 60/s to maintain a maximum consumption of 60/s. This means that during the fluid level updates, it will need to have a net gain of 60 fluid move into the fluid-box by the end of the upda...

Re: Fluid system: only 1st Storage Tank is filled to 25k and only with a pump

In my understanding, a Steam Turbine cannot output maximum load if its steam level is < 200 so you can reach it only with pumps currently. This is incorrect. How much steam level do you need to ensure a maximum consumption of 60/s? My point of view is purely technical, and my intention is to help i...

Re: Fluid system: only 1st Storage Tank is filled to 25k and only with a pump

Except you're putting pumps between each and every turbine, which is not needed, thus you are putting in extra entities. You are also putting a pump on the backside of every heat exchanger, which is also not needed. Tertius already demonstrated this earlier with an image. In my understanding, a Ste...

Re: Fluid system: only 1st Storage Tank is filled to 25k and only with a pump

Re: UPS impact, as assemblers and other entities with fluid boxes never go to sleep (due to lack of events regarding fluids), this makes me think that pipes, tanks, etc also never go to sleep, even when completely full. I see what you mean: Having more entities to workaround a probable bug can, of ...
