Does increasing game speed disable achievements?
I know that some console commands cancel achievements while others like checking evolution do not. What I don't know is if changing the game speed cancels them? I would think not, as it will just make playing harder. However, I am in late game with over 48 hours invested and in a stable safe place o...

Re: Alt-F4 #60 - Burning Questions
Thanks for the post. As I keep upping the difficulty of the game it is good to see how to maximize energy output of the resources I can actually get my hands on.

Re: Friday Facts #367 - Expansion news
Nobody is saying the expansion should cost a million dollars. That is being extreme. People are saying the $30 price, and then some, are worth it for a game like this. I agree with them. Nobody would be discussing the price at all if it weren't for some people being outraged at $30. Which is also ex...

When did the "expensive" green circuit recipe change?
In my current game, I just noticed my green circuits only cost 8 copper wire instead of the 10 it used to cost to make "expensive" green circuits. I have no idea when this change was implemented, and my old blueprints still have a 5 copper wire to 1 green circuit ratio. Looks like I need t...

Even though I figured it out early in the post, this was a good prank. I didn't know about the Rick roll until I came to the forums...
Well played.
Now get us some more expansion info! I'm dying to get some hints as to what is coming.

Re: What are the most impractical items in Factorio?
I will just put out there coal liquefaction technology which requires oil (blue science) to research. Coal liquefaction research should only require red and green (perhaps black) science to discover so you can bridge your way to oil if it is not nearby.

Re: We support Ukraine
Thank you to the developers for making this statement! It is not easy to take a stance like this, even when it is the absolute right thing to do. I see the majority of the statements in support of Putin are coming from a few misinformed people on the very far right. I, for one, will not engage in a ...

Re: Friday Facts #367 - Expansion news
As was mentioned, I think there is going to be plenty for everyone with the update. Factorio is such a deep game. Whether you play with biters on, off, or at insane difficulty like I enjoy, there is so much you can do. You can play with bots, or circuits, or trains, or belts. You can play with one o...

Re: A question about biters/spitters...
Thank you for the reply! I have to be particularly careful not to build near biter bases in my deathworld marathon game as the outposts constantly trigger the biters in the bases and those free biters are eating up my ammo supply so much so I need to go back and try it again.

A question about biters/spitters...
I know that pollution is absorbed by nests and used to create biters/spitters so they can attack the source of pollution. However, if you kill the bugs around a nest, even in an area where there is no pollution those biters and spitters seem to still respawn to defend the nest. The question is do th...

Re: What is the total cost to launch a rocket in marathon?
I remember the other thread. I didn't mean for this thread to rehash those old discussions. In reality, I just wanted to find the marathon costs. I ended up beating the map with the 600% frequency of biter bases. So... now I have reduced the starting area to the minimum 17% size. It sounds extreme, ...

Re: What is the total cost to launch a rocket in marathon?
DW marathon isn't really that much of a challenge (just manage your pollution), though perhaps without bots I can see it being overly tedious though still doable. But bots are 50% of factorio though, so really not sure about that. If you want a real challenge, try DW Rampant. With bots, solar, lase...

Re: Friday Facts #367 - Expansion news
$30 is too low for the amount of content the developers are promising. And this is one development team I trust completely! It is rather unfortunate some people seem to be underpaid for their contributions to this world. I for one, want the awesome team making one of the best games in history to be ...

Re: Friday Facts #367 - Expansion news
Thank you for the FFF. This gets me so excited. More Factorio (and hopefully more biter action) is exactly what I desire. The brain bug design is absolutely perfect! The thought of biters making more intelligent attacks on my base would be incredible! I would love to be a beta tester. Especially if ...

Re: [1.1.19] Automation wrong cost under expensive tech
It seems so strange to have changed this and yet they will not make an achievement for marathon mode to get lazy bastard. In this way you could do a 100% deathworld marathon.
The game is begging for just one more level of difficulty and this achievement would be the ultimate challenge.

Re: What is the total cost to launch a rocket in marathon?
I think there are two ways to play DW/M. One is the slow roll, thus controlling pollution. The second is to produce exactly what you need but fast enough and in enough abundance that you can protect yourself from biters. I think option number one works better for maps with more pollution absorption....

Re: What is the total cost to launch a rocket in marathon?
It is hard for me to see where the oil actually is on that image. Is it the lower left base? If so, how are you getting the oil back to the main base? I don't see any infrastructure between the two? All I can say is nice work... I do stand corrected and I often do not explain myself well on these fo...
