It appears to be crashing inside Steam's game overlay. Does the standalone version work for you? Have you updated Steam recently or made any changes to it?

So it looks like a case of misconfigured build server. Fixed in 0.16.1, which will be coming soon.
Game crashes while "Loading core... [2 %]" but also fails to generate a stack trace hence the freeze.
Had to use SIGKILL.
