Re: Why do Stone Furances Burn?

The uneven heating of the outside damages the surprisingly delicate equilibrium of the furnace, damaging the structure and causing it to collapse.

Re: CPU cores used?

Keep in mind the operating system happily burns away another core (or two), so less than four (physical) cores might be too little.

See, posila, this is what "emotions and very little reason" actually looks like. Notice the brevity of this message from Oktokolo to refute only headers without actually discussing any of the points of argument. Further, he hurls the elephant "the axes indeed do not improve gameplay at all" without...

You do retain the perfect ratio, no matter how many blueprints you put down. Personally, I do like to have some spare capacity "just in case" but ymmv.

Re: Friday Facts #270 - HR Substation & Save/Load overview

I fail to see the point of penalizing electricity distance by the number of poles used. As the wire is isolated against the pole anyway the current does not really care about passing above an isolator. Technically, there is no limitation against putting 110kV on a line of wooden masts. It will turn ...

otoh, it is always good to know it is not me being too stupid to build a proper blueprint, so thanks for sharing your pain.
I, for one, build all the corners by hand and take the train grid for reference. So far, it has come out nicely (my nice, not yours :P ) using a medium pole in the corners.

Team with Games Workshop, bring out a tabletop version. The amount of gold the miniature sales bring in will enable buying a small country.

plus, one can always "motivate" the enemy to be hit with a flamer with a few well placed walls. Just have them zig-zag to their crispy doom.

Re: New player, overwhelmed

Most of the stuff is self explaining, items also have pop up infoboxes. Concerning item production, you just have to add ingrediends to assembly machines and move these products to other machines. (And then rebuild the entire thing as it does not scale and you need waaaaay more of x than you expecte...

Re: Friday Facts #259 - Scan-codes, Prototype IDs, HR worm

Ho fast will worms dig tunnels and how long can they stay underground? Its important because if to fast and to long underground they may pop up in the middle of your base way past the defense line. You might want to hold this question until the feature goes from "intend to implement" to "tadaa!" :)...

If you make artillery inaccurate, most of us will probably just doutriple the amount of guns. Can´t be bothered, just a logistic problem.

Re: Performance optimization - post your saves

If the game slows the more you zoom out I´d say the GPU is the bottleneck. Even though it claims to have only 40% load . Maybe it is the memory interface (no dedicated memory, as far as I can tell from the specs), maybe thermal throtteling.

Re: Friday Facts #245 - Campaign concept

But either way you´d end up with - say 12 yellow needed to complete. Whether you use the other colours up right away or when the missing ones show up doesn´t really change anything. It might simplify supplying bottles to the labs (by having dedicated labs for each colour), but even with all seven co...
