Re: I want to play factorio but I lack a goal

Well, after you get your rocket, the only thing left to do is break the game. Go to the limits of what belts/inserters can do and see how efficient you can design things. If you want to push throughput further, you'll have to spam roboports + logistic bot but imho that is just plain boring. There is...

Re: Thanks for all the fish! (Cave spoiler Spidertron)

I wonder if it would be possible to cut power to the silo when the rocket is at 100% and re-enable it once the stack size reaches 100.

Re: Version 1.1.0

Poles built by dragging are now actually build on the maximum connection distance from the last built pole instead of the previous logic that was working weird in a lot of corner cases. .... 518hrs of Factorio and I never even fathomed that power poles could be placed that way. Awesome work, great ...

Re: Version 1.1 stable build release

I've played most of my factorio hours on experimental builds and only rarely encountered issues. As other posters said: they are quite stable/usable a few weeks in.

This alone made me upgrade to 1.1 in a heartbeat:

Re: How addicted to this game are you?

I love playing in my downtime but I don't let a game impact my life in a negative way anymore. Been there (not Factorio) done that, wasn't fun. There are aspects I find boatloads of fun: designing a fab and optimizing it, while trying to make it look nice. Fiddling with trains. But there are also as...

Re: Friday Facts #225 - Bots versus belts (part 2)

Also seeing a bot carrying 3 oil refineries is a joke (lol) More so than our guy carrying locomotives, multiple kilometers of concrete plates, a brick wall, assemblers, oil pumps and fluid storage tanks in his pant pockets? BRB, planting inflatable train on tracks.... Really, the problem is: belts ...

Re: Friday Facts #225 - Bots versus belts (part 2)

To be honest: I am very far from a megabase design. I play marathon and right from the get go I am constantly confronted with the inadequate nature of belts and inserters. To be blunt: these units simply can't keep up and even mechanics like "inserter needs time to grab/deposit stuff" is e...

Re: i find this game become boring after 100 hour.

God point. I remember the same from My MMOs, where you would rack up insane looking /played times (around 500 days in WoW over 10 years) but 50% of that was just standing around and using the game as an animated chatbox. :D In the game that made everyone forget about WoW, someone took that concept ...

Re: i find this game become boring after 100 hour.

and when I came back a day later the nasty resource patches were gone so I could expand my factory on the freed-up space. I'm kinda OCD about that... I am virtually unable to build my base upon unused resource patches. Considering all the bands I regularly listen to I'd probably have to break all m...

Re: i find this game become boring after 100 hour.

I do agree on the "premature ending" feeling b/c that's pretty much how I felt. The moment you have set up your base to produce a rocket, you can basically alt + F4 the game because, content wise, you are done. From there on out, nothing new is coming, you have seen everything there is to ...

Re: electricity are cheap

Well NPPs are an endgame powersource, DESIGNED to basically take electricity out of the base design equation.

You get working reactors at the point where you are almost done with launching your rocket anyway, so they are more intended for the open ended sandbox gameplay.

Re: i find this game become boring after 100 hour.

now i am thinking. what the purpose for having a big base, if they serve no purpose ? Ultimately? To see if you can handle mass production and keep it fed / stable. You certainly don't need it if you play vanilla with x1 cost though. If you go for 1 science / s in Marathon (x4 cost) you will hardly...

Also I already did set all kinds of different goals for myself etc... I'm already past that as well... and wish the game would challenge me again. Honestly after at least 2000 hours of Vanilla Factorio throughout the past 4-5 years I definitely came to an dead end with the game. Dude 2000 hours! Yo...

Re: Alternative to using WASD key for movement

I sometimes wished for click and point movement as well, wanting to lean back and play the entire game using mouse only. To be honest though: If you are new to gaming in general, give it some time and patience. You will learn to coordinate keyboard and (in other games) mouse movement. This brings ba...

Re: i find this game become boring after 100 hour.

You can stretch this game out to pretty perverse hours, if you start optimizing your bases. Aim for a production that is spot on (no surplus, produce only what you need), efficiently spaced (means as little room needed as possible) AND looks pleasing to the eye. W/o templates from others, I'd reckon...

So unless the context is clearly National socialistic (in which case steam would act) there is no reason to delete anything containing that shape. Sorry to break it to you, but everybody knows exactly what society interprets the swastika to mean. If somebody is making a swastika, they aren't using ...

Re: Problems with nazi symbols on steam

The Swastika is not a Nazi symbol. It is far older and has different meanings.
Hitler actually used it because of the good fortune meaning.

Steel furnaces, because they produce more pollution: 2 votes, 1% Well, that is interesting. 1 out of 100 people thinks pollution (in-game) benefits you. Re: Electric Furnaces vs Steel Furnaces

Switching to electric furnaces is probably the most rewarding point of any game for me.

I love their quiet hum, no ugly clouds no annoying coal logistics... also, for whatever reason, I always get a kick out of fitting them with green modules. :D
