My setup is very similar to how evopwr described above.
The nice thing is that you don't really need combiners for this. Just use a pumps, and use a green wire.
For instance, for your heavy->light cracking, have a pump coming out of your heavy storage tank leading to your cracking. Connect a ...

"Do not replenish" logic help
I have a logical situation that I can't figure out how to make work.
For simplicity sake, let's say I have two belt loops. The one on the left is full of iron. The one on the right is empty. Between the two loops, I have an inserter->chest->inserter. So, Iron can be moved from the loop on the left ...

Re: 0.17 Hype?
If you make spidertron, please give him 8 legs if there are not any significant difficulties in 8 leg walking compared to 6 legs. Or otherwise it will be insectron, which has not nearly as high street credibility as spidertron.
Spidertron has to have 7 legs just to annoy everyone.
...and a ...

Re: Major Electricity Problem
First of all, thank you all for taking time out of your day helping me out. After getting a seperate coal belt for the secondary boiler array and messing around with some things I managed to get everything working. Soon I will get a nuclear plant too.
Have a good day guys :)

Re: Sulfur vs Sulfuric Acid on Main Bus
For me, what I find works best is to have a chemical processing center separate (mostly) from the main belt. This process center starts with crude refining, and makes lubricant, acid, batteries, plastic, and solid fuel. Those 5 items are trained to other areas, whether it be to another factory ...

Re: Train station/logistic clogging problem
Do you use train stackers? These have helped me a ton.
Let's say I have 2 stations named the same, and I need 5 trains to visit them. I have the inbound traffic go to a stacker of 3 lanes, those three lanes merge again to one line right before splitting into the two stations. This way, I can ...

Yes! I currently have four refuel centers, each having multiple stops, all named the same.HuevoPodrido wrote:Doesn't this work wonders to do a refueling station? This thread ended 1 hour of pondering of how the hell avoid a bottle neck to refuel

Re: A Question About Storage Chests on a Network
I could do it that way, but I've done it that way on multiple maps. I'm trying new ways of doing things, not that it's better or more efficient, but because it's challenging and pushes me to think and learn new techniques. One of the things I want to start to learn this time through is circuitry. I ...

Re: A Question About Storage Chests on a Network
Wood, stone, or anything that might be clogging up my inventory. Let's say I'm changing my belts in my iron smelting center and accidentally pick up some iron plates. It will be picked up, and eventually sent back into the system.

Re: A Question About Storage Chests on a Network
Thanks for the replies. At this point, I have the recycle system in place and working, but I haven't set up the other systems that I wanted to take advantage of a map wide network. At least that means that I can now break the network into smaller sections, then work out how to do the other things I ...

A Question About Storage Chests on a Network
I'm building a recycle system on my map. The short of it - when I trash something in my personal roboport, bots from the network take the trash to one of several recycle stations. When the storage chests at these stations reach a certain capacity, a train is triggered to come to the station, pick up ...

Re: Speed Modules, What are they good for?
Speed Modules negate the speed loss of productivity modules. Productivity modules essentially give you free production without the use of extra materials. Coupling the speed modules with the productivity modules allows you to produce more product at no additional cost in materials and at little to ...

Re: What is everyone's preferred train size
I almost always use 1-4's, with the occasional 1-2's for smaller loads. This is on a one-way circuit highway. The only thing I give up by using 1-4's vs something like 1-4-1 is some acceleration, but save the headache that longer lengths can cause.

Re: 0.15 woes
Part of the joy of Factorio is figuring out how to do the different functions (power, trains, research, etc) of the game. The further you get into the game, the deeper it gets. I've been playing this game since just before 0.15 came out. I have about 8-10 different maps so far. Each map, I learn ...
