I can confirm the issue in question has been resolved.

Upon successfully connecting I was presented with the recipe user interface as if I had clicked the button which suggests to me the server saved the fact I had that open.

Summery:
Crash upon opening recipes user interface caused crash when reconnecting to server 100% of the time.
