TL;DR
Would be nice if I have multiple train depots that share a name - a train will simply path to the nearest open one

Similar to how OpenTTD/Transport Tycoon allows the creation of a train stop with multiple entries...

I think the approach you want is implementing instancing directly in the shader. The drawbacks you mentioned are for the direct calls to ask the API/driver to do the instanced rendering.

What I have done in order to do faster sprite rendering in a modern API is to create a Vertex Buffer ...

Would be nice when filling factories with green modules to not add modules that add no impact.
Currently - when adding green modules level 1 to Yellow factories, you either click 3 times (3 * 30% = 90%, capped at 80%) or you ctrl-click and it adds 4 units. The 4th green circuit has no impact. It's ...
