Re: 3-way intersections: Throughput Compendium [Image heavy]

Nice:) The blue ones have no purpose, the only thing they do is forcing larger gaps between trains since trains have to wait longer before they merge. Why do you want to have them there? You're right, pre-signals for merging switches are redundant, I'll remove them :) I've been working on 100-grid ...

Re: 3-way intersections: Throughput Compendium [Image heavy]

The ones marked with red need to be chain signals. Thank you! That was embarrassing, of course all crossings/switches should have a chain signal on the input. And all buffers should have a rail signal, I don't see why the blued should be changed? Anyway, after completing two 4-way grid-aligned desi...

Re: 3-way intersections: Throughput Compendium [Image heavy]

Hi. By request, I did a 5u, grid-aligned, 3-way intersection. It's fully buffered, so it should perform better than the best 2 lane version posted here. It's not pleasing to the eye; in fact it's so asymetrical and messy that the requester does not want to use it :( Can someone benchmark it for me? ...

Re: Four-way roundabout junction (hopefully deadlock-free)

Have you looked at the 2 lane designs in this thread? There are many and they have been tested: https://forums.factorio.com/viewtopic.php?f=194&t=46855 The ones with the highest throughput all (?) have buffers: they allow trains to enter a stretch of track to wait until the path is clear. This e...

Re: 4-way intersections: Throughput and deadlocks [image heavy]

Thank you! That's a poor result :( But you're right, there is nor reason why north/south shouldn't be able to do a left turn at the same time, I missed that :( I (think that I) need lane changing because it will be part of a modular base; this will be in every corner of the modules. At the moment we...

Re: 4-way intersections: Throughput and deadlocks [image heavy]

Hello. q I was in need of a very compact 4 lane 4 way intersection, and I did not like the designs listed here: I think I can do better. I did one of my own but I could not make the test map work. :( It's weird, a locomotive cannot find a path on the innermost lane, unless the locomotive starts from...

Re: 4-way intersection testing: Throughput and deadlocks

Thank you! Annoying that it did not perform as top one :( I like that you invented the exact same T-junction as I did :) I considered using it as a 4-way junction but it's too large. For a really compact junction based on the same principles as these, try this one: 0eNqdndFuGzkMRX9l4ec4GFHSSMqvLIpF2...

Re: 4-way intersection testing: Throughput and deadlocks

Hello. I am unable to get your savefile to work with my intersection; no trains spawn after I replaced everything in the grey area. That's all it should take, right? and switch the green combinator? Could you try it for me? It's a 1 lane cross that requires a train length of no more that 5u. (I also...
