Websockets?
Would it be possible to do something like having websockets in Factorio?
I think it would be really cool to write a mod that connects to a service that has that and have it come back and do things in the game itself based on what the socket server says.

I don't believe its googles fault at all, its DynDNS thats getting attacked. Not googles fault.Uforek wrote:Yeah, I figured Google would have their sh*t together, but apparently not. I'm using ns1.dnsimple.com for now. Cheers!

Information on why things are failing!
Alrighty, So DynDNS is a company known for hosting a large chunk of DNS for a lot of companies. Well they are having a huge DDOS attack at the moment and people are having issues. Factorio uses Heroku for its servers and such and Heroku uses DynDNS. You can see where this is going..

Re: Factorio FLOB?
Lakes seem must-do, there's not enough variation.
Are you going to manufacture the rails?
Maybe, I might add the train mod that lets you control trains from afar and have a refill train that i send back between episodes or something. As to not bore everyone. But everything would be made ...

Re: Factorio FLOB?
I think I might restart on my actual computer and do a YouTube series on it. You think people would watch that?
I'm also thinking I might set it to be a world with only water in the spawn, Just so I don't have to go around any lakes. Unless you would rather see me move the train around some lakes.

Most crucial quaestions:
1. Location, location, location? Playing with pings > 100 is not fun :)
2. How much resources will the instances have? Do you plan to make tiers? "Regular", "Trains", "Megabase", "Colonel Will edition"? :D
3. Does it cost, and how much?

None, if you play single player with updates turned off.
Multiplayer runs quite well on low bandwidth, though if you pay per megabyte it does add up.
The major bandwidth uses are the initial multiplayer map download, and new version updates.

Factorio Bandwidth Usage
How much bandwidth does Factorio use when playing? Id like to know because someone i know only has a limited amount of bandwidth and i want to know how long he can play and if he should even attempt. I'm basically asking how much does it use on average per second?

Re: GFX-Shift-Tool
The reason the PHP version doesn't update the picture is because you don't have an expiration time set on the image. The browser is caching the image. If you press Shift+f5 it clears the cache and shows you the updated image.

Does anyone know what happens when the factorio dedicated server in 0.12.x runs out of RAM? I myself haven't tested it and I don't have a big enough factory to get to my ram limit. anyone tested this?
