Re: Endgame concerns[POLL]

To both of you, I feel that you didnt even bother to read what I wrote, as seems to VERY often be the case on these forums. I know that especially in ssilk's case, English is not the primary language, and I certainly sympathize with that, but I do believe you need to more closely read these things b...

Re: Endgame concerns[POLL]

I guess you and I have a different version of the game then, because what you described there is almost -exactly- what basic factorio is. Lay everything down, and automate it without your interaction. Some of us already play the game (since there is relatively little else challenge to the game atm) ...

Re: Endgame concerns[POLL]

My concern is not listed in the poll. I am worried that this ending feels cheaply forced and does not add very much complexity or challenge beyond what is even currently in the game. The problem is with scope. Despite building a spaceship and launching into space (and the -enormous potential that ha...

Re: Multiplayer continues to be unplayable

Update for Cube: Each transfer was tested with a freshly generated map with nothing built. We tested the load times, and my memory was right. 11.3 had a 6 second map download 11.4 had a 118 second map download So somewhere in the 11.4 patch is something that slowed the transfer speed by 2,000%! I ho...

Multiplayer continues to be unplayable

I know I have made a post or two on this topic, but this issue still remains an enormous and glaring issue with the multiplayer in this game. With the talk Ive read of getting ready to push the stable multiplayer, I feel that it is very necessary to re-iterate that the multiplayer is, in fact, still...

Re: Other Planets

Are people even bothering to read the post before responding to it? Garm - I feel that the "why other planets" is more than adequately covered in the post. Unless you mean why another planet instead of the one we are on, and that is probably more of a technical issue. With the way the game...

Re: Other Planets

If you will notice, none of those threads are this idea. The closest to it come from comment responses to the Friday Facts, in which case it would still need its own thread. Just because it has the word "Planet" in it doesnt mean it is discussing the concept of map connection and end game ...

Other Planets

First off, I would like to commend the developers on what may be my favorite game ever. (It is possibly a tie with Dwarf Fortress, but that is a HUGE compliment to you) Upon reading of your idea to implement more of and end game with a spaceship, I asked myself, "Why not other planets?" Th...

Re: Still Abysmal Map download speed

Given that we play lots of other games togeter with no issues at all, i am inclined to say no, im certain it is a factorio/udp issue. I kind of feel like I get the same runaround here that People get with their ISPs. "Oh no, something wrong on your end. Not even going to explore the possibility...

Still Abysmal Map download speed

Playing in multiplayer with only 1 friend, game is at 2 hours played. We try to load the game back up and continue, and when he connects, after 15 minutes the bar is only 1/8th loaded. I attempt to FTP the zip file to him. My upload takes ~6 seconds and his download of the zip file takes ~4 seconds....

Re: Humble beginnings

Using a main Bus design, my biggest recommendation is to think modularly. Design repeatable sections that can be added to the main bus as needed. This way, if you need more of an item, rather than trying to sqeeze more in between existing structures, you can slap a self sufficient design down as man...

Re: Gradual accumulation of packet loss

While I would agree normally that this kind of issue would be an ISP issue, there seems to be something in factorio that is exacerbating the problem. Typically my friend might need to reset his modem once a month due to the "bog down" of this type, and that is playing a variety of games, i...

Gradual accumulation of packet loss

While playing on a direct 2 player IP connection, My friend and I have begun to get a gradual accumulation of "hiccup lag", where the game becomes unplayably choppy. As soon as he disconnects, the game returns to normal, and then when he reconnects, it goes right back to the hiccuping. Som...
