That is just the thing I was looking for, thanks a lot! I've had no idea that stuff like that exists.
(On a side note, I've learned today that you cannot build on undiscovered chunks. You learn new things every day!)

Placing blueprints in sandbox mode
Hi,
I like to test and tweak setups and loadouts in sandbox mode before using them in standard game. But I find placing blueprints tedious in sandbox mode. I have to place the blueprint, put a roboport nearby, fill it with robots, power it, place a chest and keep filling it with required items.

Re: Friday Facts #295 - New design for the chemical plant
The new design is interesting. I am just wondering about the smoke. It looks very different from what the steam engines/turbines output right now. I hope it won't look awkward when you have the two visible on screen at the same time.

Yeah, saveable mod profiles would be great.

I got the trans-factorio express when I screwed rail signals and train went the long way instead. Target station was nearby, but the train went on a sightseeing tour around the whole railway.

Re: Beacons fully becomes the trash!
I also disagree with the idea that the beacons' contribution is free items. That would be the case if you had, like, 500 iron plates, processed them and shut the factory off. Then summed the costs and profits and realized you've saved 2X coal worth of energy. (To account for boilers' 50% efficiency ...

Fiddling with recipe and research cost modifiers can make this achievement impossible, can't it?

Re: Reward for killing biters
The biggest reward you get for killing spawners is space to expand your factory into. Also, destroying spawners in your area of influence (the pollution cloud) prevents biters from attacking, which counts.

Re: Fluid wagon vs Cargo wagon comparison: Transporting fluids
If you look closely at the wagon, you'll see that it is slightly misaligned because of the curved rail. You need to add one more straight rail segment to the station.

I perceive "Watch your step" more like a failure than an achievement. Therefore I actively try to avoid getting it as long as possible.

Re: Do You Feel Full Logistic Behind Yellow Pushes Lasers Early?
I've always tried to replace gun turrets by lasers asap. Disregarding the ammo supply and assuming comparable damage output, my reasons are: Bigger biters have physical, but not laser resistance and laser turrets have bigger range.

Re: Mixed mines
Place electric mines in a way that they cover most of the coal without reaching any of the uranium. Even if there is 1 piece of uranium and 10k coal, the uranium stucks the mine really soon. There is no way to forbid them from trying to mine it. Use burner miners for edges. Burners cannot mine ...

Re: What programming language Factorio is written in?
I'd say it doesn't really matter which language you start with. In procedural programming, there are concepts and techniques which are independent on the language. Beginner programmers should get their heads around those and it doesn't really matter if they write { } or begin end.

Re: production science pack, harder to made than hi tech science
It is true that there are less kinds of items in Production pack chain, items in Hitech share ingredients more often.
But the amount of required items in the process is much higher for Hitech packs. They are much more expensive and require more assembly time.

Re: solar power plant better than nuclear reactor
When it was just steam vs solar (now it is solar vs steam-165 vs steam-500), I always went for steam for one reason: Pollution. I like to build large polluting power plants providing for large polluting factories. I never use efficiency modules, I always put production where applicable and speed ...

Re: what i must do with this wood ?
If you mine a chest its contents are dumped on the ground, no chestception.
Actually, when you mine a chest, its contents are moved to your inventory and if it is full, you won't be able to mine the chest.
I'd also recommend against using wood as fuel for vehicles, higher quality fuel now boosts ...
