First: As long as you do not see the no path appear above the train, it doesn't count:) Second:. your use of chain signals causes the very brief no path. that is a good idea, mrvn. But this topic is about full blue belts vs partially filled blue belts. So far, partially filled belts are lighter on ups load in my tests.

partial belts are faster:)
I did the same test with straight belts, Ill post it tomorrow. same results: full belts are worse for UPS...

You are correct, the "last grab inbalance" is not solved by this system.
hm. would setting max stacksize 10 om the inserters not solve that?

Putin's chest (factorio reddit) has made a simple solution lane balance first, then belt balance later.
Works for all belt types.

20 turbines produce 2060 fluid/s to sustain that flow you need to limit your pipe segment count to 3. this doesn't work with a line of 20 HE's.

Input balanced is per definition input lane balanced, since the lanes can be independently consumed downstream, and you want to consume the input lanes evenly.
And I agree, TU is overkill in most situations.
