I wasn't, I was far(about 15 tiles) from the chest when it dropped. I'm also using long reach mod, don't know if this is relevant.

I tried to take some items from a chest using left click + ctrl, couldn't get it all because my inventory got full, then it just dropped on the ground like an item moved from a inserter
