Pipes and tanks freeze because we say they freeze when there isn’t a heat pipe next to them with enough heat. Trying to logic a reason past that is futile because there is none. Even though I understand your Argument, wouldn't such an perfect Insulation also prevent other liquids from freezing, or am I missing something?

Edit: And besides the tanks, in case of perfect insulation why are pipes freezing?

Hi, I don't know if intended, but pipes and storage tanks containing 500°C steam are freezing despite the contained heat.

I would have expected that this is prevented due to the hot steam, so they don't have to be heated externally.
