A very simple solution to the bots out-scaling everything (that others have mentioned in the thread as well) is to make bots take time to pick up or drop something.

Allow connecting to a server using hostname instead of IP

At the moment, you can only connect to a server using an IP or IP:port.
I propose adding hostname and hostname:port to that.

This is far more convenient if you plan to host a 24/7 server on the internet. People wouldn't have to remember an IP, but instead a domain name, e.g. "johnmaddenfactorio.com ...
