Re: 'Leave immediately' should not be the default behaviour for trains

Hmmm, you make a good point blahfasel2000. I don't think you really can change all of the conditions to avoid stopping if it's already fulfilled because "circuit condition" may depend on the train itself being there, and inconsistencies are rarely worth it. I begrudgingly change my vote. I...

Re: 'Leave immediately' should not be the default behaviour for trains

I agree with the original post. While PyroFire and wookz do have a legitimate use case, I agree with Sachertorte that they're using automated schedules so screen real estate is less of a problem. Adding a "Wait for 0 seconds" doesn't take long, then you can forget about it. But if you requ...

Re: [0.18.12] Combat robot corpses shown in the void

> I don't think this matters Agreed. I only mention it because the behaviour is different from the spitter goo puddles and asymmetry is a bad smell in software. If it's going to be difficult at all to fix then I agree it's better to just leave it. Few users will ever come across this and the "b...

[0.18.12] Combat robot corpses shown in the void

Playing Crashsite scenario ( https://github.com/Refactorio/RedMew/tree/1e708bf27f89a1a3a177d019d9f572ed0f44e199/map_gen/maps/crash_site ) I noticed that the new corpse graphics of dead combat robots (which are a great addition btw!) are shown even when they land outside of the map boundaries. It loo...

Re: Steam age

Totally. Unless I misunderstood, this thread is discussing the idea of a new mod. We're not suggesting a change to vanilla. The topic is in "Ideas and suggestions", not in "request for a mod" subforum. Plus the OP never talks of a mod, so I understand his suggestion is for vanil...

Re: Friday Facts #266 - Cleanup of mechanics

Another thing that might help is to have a clear list of what is and is not still moddable, and perhaps a justification (whether it's accepted or not) for removing what you did from the engine. Then people wouldn't need to speculate and extrapolate.

Re: Friday Facts #266 - Cleanup of mechanics

I have to admit, I have read only fraction of this discussion (mainly because the topic is not related to my work on 0.17 and the thread is too long) ... Thank you! Can't speak for others, but I very much appreciate a concerned nod from one of the developers! This thread is indeed epic, but I recom...

Re: Friday Facts #266 - Cleanup of mechanics

Vanilla should be designed as a well-rounded experience in that it has gameplay aspects that appeal to a variety of player types. ... This is how Factorio sells the most units, by appealing to the most players within a cohesive game design. Meta, semi-political thought: I was thinking about this ye...

Re: Steam age

I don't actually think I'd like to see the burner stage extended, or a steam age, or a 'stone age' added to to factorio's vanilla experience. I don't think Factorio should be targeted to the most hardcore players who like to suffer to feel the sense of accomplishment. It should be aimed to a easy-m...

Re: Steam age

the first factories had one big steam engine and all the machines inside the factory were belt-driven. Powering single units with dedicated steam engines was never a thing. So it would be more accurate to have to spread the mechanical power around the factory. I was talking about this with the crea...

Re: Friday Facts #266 - Cleanup of mechanics

Might I direct your attention to the mod I've been developing for the last couple of months: Stone Age Factorio . It's primary mechanic: the tool slot. Hi Builder! I did already mention your mod but it got a bit buried in the epic back-and-forth going on. Keep doing what you're doing! And I still r...

Re: Friday Facts #266 - Cleanup of mechanics

Ehwhat? Who ever said that the existance of temperatures causes any sort of UPS "hit"? If you have no solid proof please don't spread rumors just because you don't like a system. Let not the rumours spread. I did no testing so I have no solid proof. Temperatures are blended as fluid flows...

Re: Friday Facts #266 - Cleanup of mechanics

Factorio is a hybrid puzzle/power fantasy game ... This hybrid nature has split the player base Most insightful post of the whole thread! Well said Rythe! Others hinted at it but you nailed it here. :+1: Everyone should read that post. However, it makes me very un happy to see people ... listing mo...

Re: Friday Facts #266 - Cleanup of mechanics

I love what you guys are doing to make the NPE more approachable! I love your courage to challenge every paradigm we've accepted as players in the name of perfecting gameplay! I love how you field ideas in the FFF so that we can all wrestle with them and discuss the mechanics we love and hate. Howev...
