Re: "Kovarex Enrichment" needs a rethink -- catalysts!

It is stupid to unload stuff from a machine, only to immediately load it back in again, over and over and over.

That's makework to bodge past a fundamental UI problem.

Re: "Kovarex Enrichment" needs a rethink -- catalysts!

It means a dramatic change as one can basically seize mining ore and only recuperate the U238 he has in abundance as the enrichment process provides (as far as I understood) more U238 as it consumes Just FYI, this isn't the case. Once you get it running, the enrichment process turns 3 U-238 into 1 ...

Re: "Kovarex Enrichment" needs a rethink -- catalysts!

So, to sum up so far: "I can solve this problem!' But it shouldn't be this kind of problem . It's a bad design that comes from too narrow a focus on the existing code and existing art assets. If the code changes just a little, it both makes this process easy, and also makes a lot of other inter...

"Kovarex Enrichment" needs a rethink -- catalysts!

The Kovarex cycle is a good fundamental idea, but it's really terribly flawed in its implementation. It's designed around the code base and existing art assets, instead of what's reasonable to actually do. By using the same inputs and outputs, but in different amounts, it's extremely difficult to de...

Re: 0.15.6 Random 30fps Lag

When I got this bug (it's "framerate issues" in the "waiting" subforum), enabling vsync *fixed* it. Instant normal Factorio smoothness, instead of tons of microstuttering.

It started happening immediately after an update, I'm pretty sure it was 15.3.

Re: [0.15.4] Fairly serious framerate issues

One possible point of note: I'm on Windows 7, not Win10. (the original bug poster here, not the latest.)

There's definitely something wrong in your code. Even if it's working on your laptop, something is wrong.

Re: [0.15.4] Fairly serious framerate issues

As a followup: turning on vsync fixes the problem. In other words: limiting the framerate *increases* the frame rate. Instead of constant micro-stuttering and frequent 30fpsish (I don't have a counter, I'm just guessing) performance, I get a nice steady 60 with vsync on. Yet another rephrase, puttin...

Re: [0.15.4] Fairly serious framerate issues

Yeah, that's almost my exact symptom, stuttering at random times, but frequent. It's never done this before, and I bet if I fall back to an old version, it will stop doing it again. Remember, I didn't change anything except knocking sprite memory down to Medium. It was working gorgeously yesterday, ...

Re: [0.15.4] Fairly serious framerate issues

Ok, here are my graphic settings. The only things I remember changing were setting Sprite memory to high (when I first started 0.15, was working in 15.3), and just recently, turning the video memory down to Medium, when the choppiness started.

[for 0.16] [0.15.4] Fairly serious framerate issues

I've been running Factorio for ages, and have a medium-sized factory. So far, in 0.15, it's been running as beautifully as it always does, until today's update. Suddenly, it's really janky and nasty when there's a lot of stuff on the screen, starting shortly after loading the factory. I've never see...
