Played normally on a vanilla server. It has some scenario softmods, but no real mods.

2. What happened?

A player joined, threw down some long reach and right-angle inserters into a demo.

3. What did you expect to happen instead? It might be obvious to you, but do it anyway ...

According to HanziQ, yes, it is the same issue.

Generally when you die, it's on top of a big pile of biter Corpses. Biter corpses seem to draw on top of your corpse if your MP buddy keeps up the good fight, turning corpse recovery into a Where's Dead Waldo mini game.

It would be really nice if the player corpse was drawn on top of biter corpses ...

Same issue here. Desynced, then redownloaded, caught up, hit 100% them boom, crash to desktop.

Wasn't doing anything interesting. Set a request for 50 red splitters on a chest, then poof.
