I understand your point, and it is legitimate. The splitter ability is great and that is the right direction!
Buff the belts utility:
Fix the compression

Re: Friday Facts #221 - 0.16 is out
I expected belts to be compressed automatically with both inserters and side loading, I even didn't think that they could be "not compressed" until read about it. The belt compression is not intuitive mechanics, I imagine that noone actually designed it this way, it just happened that after ...

Re: [0.15.1] Non-Conducting heat pipes after 60 tile
You can still use robots, but the maximum reliable heat pipe length is limited to 30 or so.
Probably less. I used Robots for placement when I didn't know about the issue and it already caused efficiency issues with the Exchangers closest to the Reactor... with maybe 5-10 tiles distance. So at a ...

Re: [0.15.1] Non-Conducting heat pipes after 60 tile
This is currently how heat pipes work. The order you build the pipes will change how they behave.
It's not really desired to work that way but it's not a bug. We may change it in the future.

[0.15] 1120 MW Nuclear Design 2x4 reactor 44 tile shore
Hi,
Made a cool design. Thought I would share it.
Energy output: 1120 MW
Reactors: 2x4
Size: 149x44 + pumps
Shoreline: 44 tile or less
Fuel cell delivery method: Belt or Bot (not prebuilt)
Maximum heat pipe length: 24 (Meaning the build works 100% even with the current heat pipe issues)
Orientation ...

[0.15.1] [kovarex] Non-Conducting heat pipes after 60 tile
What did you do?
- Placed heat pipes in different orders.
What happened?
- In some cases non-conducting pipes after 60 tile (heat drop-off is strictly linear over distance)
- Significant difference in conduction rates based on direction (placing order).
What did you expect to happen instead?
- To ...
