Re: The problem about mods

This is not Factorio related, but mod supporting game related. As long as mods and evolving games have existed, the issue you describe has existed. Solutions ? Pick one : 1) Play modded and deal with it 2) Stick to vanilla until the game is totally finished 3) Try to convince the modders to update ...

Re: Turn wood into crude oil

Yeah, agreed, I did some follow up research today and see that coal is completely unrealistic for this type of stuff. I was only bringing it up because there seem to be a lot of mods that do this or, as mentioned, someone was requesting it on the mod portal page. Nope... striking coal out. I also wa...

Re: Turn wood into crude oil

(Also, my first oil outpost tends to be by car...) Yeah, my last playthrough I did the same. The empty barrels now lost somewhere in the logistic network. :) Would be wonderful to have a car with tank attachment or smg... XD Wanna hear something funny? Steam has me logged at 952 hours play time... ...

I expect some instability when using mods. That's a part of the deal.

Re: Ctrl+Click Craft for Stack

What about a replacement? Instead of shift-click making everything, what if it made everything up to one stack? That would be the exact same as my suggestion, only you're now also suggesting to remove the original shift+click? Yes, I wasn't entirely clear. I wasn't talking about replacing your sugg...

Re: Friday Facts #303 - Under 100 bugs (but still not stable)

What I don't get is why do the CC companies charge the receiver of the funds a fee for the CC holder issuing a charge-back after noticing fraudulent use? It's not their fault that the CC was stolen. Course, I guess that's right up there with why do CC companies charge the receiver of the funds a fee...

Yeah, electric uses *way* less :
13.4kW/(0.83i/s) = 16.1 kJ/item !
And their efficiency doubled with that of boilers...
Ah, sorry, yes, 13.4. I knew there was a 3 in there....

Re: Turn wood into crude oil

Wow-wow, the thread goes viral! :D I like everything mr FuryoftheStars came to, even the wood-> heavy oil idea, but only from the gameplay point of view. Because the direct wood cracking produces the whole mix of chemicals, not only the heavy hydrocarbons. The heavy (plus light, I suspect), collect...

Why did a burner inserter don't produce pollution? I’d like to know this too. It makes sense that a burner inserter would produce pollution while the electric ones don’t, so don’t understand why all have to be made to not produce pollution? I'm going to take a wild guess, and say "gameplay bal...

Re: [MOD 0.16] Diesel Locomotive

Yes, that’s what I attempted to do originally, but I made a mistake thinking solid fuel only required 10 units of heavy oil, so I gave its item equivelant for the locomotive the same as light. Just wanted some additional feed back before I slashed the value in half. I do, though, for this mod, add a...

Re: [MOD 0.16] Diesel Locomotive

Well, the locomotive can’t use the fluids directly. What has to happen is as fluid is added (or removed), it creates an item out of the fluid and puts that into the locomotive, assigning fuel values and the like to the item.

Re: Let modded rail bounding boxes be larger than vanilla

To go with Choumiko’s suggestions, the mod author can probably add custom pump entities for use with the ships.

It sucks, yeah, but it would allow it to continue to work.

I don't think it's a good idea to argue physics here.
I wasn’t. I was arguing the point that pumps being in the game are arbitrary.

Re: [MOD 0.16] Diesel Locomotive

For some reason I completely forgot that solid fuel is made by 20 units of heavy oil while only 10 units of light. For balance reasons, I was thinking of slashing heavy oil's fuel value in half (right now it's balanced towards 10 units of heavy oil to solid fuel).

Thoughts, comments?

Re: Turn wood into crude oil

Hey, heavy oil rather than crude oil is interesting from a gameplay perspective ! You will be able to make solid fuel and use it in flame turrets, though that's pretty much it... This could give you a good enough boost to be able to claim the oil that you're missing ! You can also use it to make lu...

Re: Turn wood into crude oil

Well, yeah, any requirements like sulfuric acid, blue science and such will defeat the value of such mod. Or at least make the tech obsolete by the game time point at which it could be researched. However, thinking in that direction, I would suggest to do a 2 tiers of such tech - the basic direct w...

You simply can't fit pumps everywhere. Because not only you require the space for the pump itself, but also to provide electricity to it. {...} And mind you, unless you have a long, unbending series of pumps, you will lose output based on the distance. You don't need to fit pumps everywhere, it wou...
