Congratulation Wube, I'm pretty sure Factorio will stay in the hall of fame of game industry for decades. It's just such a great game that received so much love from its devs.
Thank you for all the work done.

Well I'm a developer myself and I stay on my position : I love you Wube. Don't ever let those internet "smart-ass behind my desk" make you feel bad I love you for the inner, in-depth stories & adventures about the dev I love you for having the ball to admit when you failed on something...

Re: Friday Facts #317 - New pathfinding algorithm
Taking cliffs into account on the abstract level is not a bad idea, but it would mean that splitting a chunk into components would now have to look at the chunk's entities, which is considerably more complicated and slower than simply looking at its tiles β tiles are, basically, just integers. Also...

Re: Friday Facts #317 - New pathfinding algorithm
Magnificent ! Although, I'm wondering if cliffs should not be taken into account by the "abstract pathfinder", It's not something you can remove early on and even when you can, most of it will remain intact (as you will probably only remove cliffs from inside your base). The only moment t...

Re: Friday Facts #313 - Light at the end of the bug tunnel
I just read last week fff and this one in a row. 45Β° looks quite better indeed and it's lovely to see that devs acknowledged it right away and made it canon in just a week. Factorio's development has slowed down a lot for 1 year, maybe even 2 but it's not a matter of wow classic or any other game fo...

How about adding a disconnect button?

Re: Friday Facts #309 - Controversial opinions
These topics are controversial because they touch the core mechanisms of the game. It's true that inserters mess up your calculations yet the feel of randomness they add is I believe irreplaceable. If you can stabilize their throughput while keeping their charm it's ok otherwise, i'd rather keep the...

[16.0] Cliff bounding box / sprite overlap
I know it's not technically a bug, but look at this : fac16.gif Isn't something wrong? ^^ On this picture, I've detailed a bit more : fac16.jpg Yellow circles doesn't shock me outrageously but yet, look rough and might need tweaks for a full polished game, maybe simply put the belt sprites on top of...

[Rseding91] [16.0] Map editor issues
- Cliff are missing rotations in the map editor : only 4 rotations available for each instead of 8 - Cliff can overlap other cliffs - The tile menu button is always highlighted as it's the selected menu even if it's not. Selected menu doesn't get highlighted once selected. Mouse over highlight works...

Re: [0.15.35] Performances issues : too many bitters?
Is there anything I can do about it (apart from cleaning all bitters as far as pollution goes, which could be very very far away) ? Are there any plans to improve bitters performances? On one hand you can run a giant-ass factory smoothly, on the other hand packs of bitters that, at this point in the...

[0.15.35] Performances issues : too many bitters?
Building a megabase, the UPS was stable for the most part of the gameplay (~200h) rarely going below 45 then it started dropping and over the course of a few hours, it got divided by two (now it caps at ~20). I highly suspect bitters (and their pathfinding) to be the cause of the problem so i tried ...
