I hope you add some type of ripple effect when dropping items in the lava (or in liquids). I don't know if you thought of this, but it would be a nice touch.
Other than that, I like the new machines. You nailed the "sturdy" look.

I love the new freedom these changes will bring when building rails, and they look more natural than before and feel less tiled. I cannot wait to play with them.

Still happens in 0.17.50, the name does not rotate correctly when using some options of the [font] tag. That would be a good idea, a wagon to defend the train. I was thinking a way to transport the cars and tanks, and allow the player to use the weapons of those vehicles. With this we can transport vehicles and have a player controlled defenses. This feature could bring a lot of fun.
