After updating to 0.16.4, I am able to load my save and play normally.

EDIT: After updating to 0.16.4, I am able to load my save and play normally.

[0.16.3] Saved game won't load [Vanilla] (ElectricSubNetwork::getDemand)
Vanilla settings, started as 0.16.0, upgraded through each to 0.16.3. 16+ hours in, saved games past around 12 hours won't load. Factorio crashes while loading any of the saves that I have that are past around 12 hours or so.
"Unexpected error has occurred!" while loading the save.

What about a combination: #3 (which I quite like), combined with limiting to the build radius of the player. That radius is a bit "intuitive" to a player who has played for a while, so there wouldn't be much need for a visual indicator.

To anyone curious about if you should use this: You should. I did not expect it to add as much to the game as it does.

We understand crashes, we understand that things won't always work. I'm fairly sure that the majority of players do not care about multiplayer, and to read that the release is pushed back because of multiplayer issues is like being told that your meal isn't ready because they ran out of the garnish ...
