Slight debugging:
Remembered I had a ghost placed for a bit of a belt trick, noticed the error on attacking a no-health target. Removed ghost, error doesn't happen anymore.

Scenario causes a non-recoverable error when moving on to the second base, error happens every time in the attached save.

Are you certain that this kind of mess of splitters is actually a balancer and doesn't have some weird issue wherein the output is slower than the input becuse certain portions of the input don't have sufficient output?

It's the inner lane of a curve, the inner lane of curves is faster than the outer lanes (not actually faster, but it needs to traverse less distance with the same speed) and in all of those cases you mentioned you're feeding a curve into the straight line, and the aberrant lane comes from the inner ...

One could, also, put their mines near their walls and deep into their turrets' range. I did that in an ore outpost and the mines seem to consistently take down a few biters. Given the dearth of power i'm going through I'm fine with less taxing on my energy grid.

I like gog.com over others because it give games running evem without an internet connection. This let me play with my notebook even where connection is not available.
