I honestly like the small water tile look..to a degree.
how about coding it to look more like a river when it's that small? Or a stream..or something similar to that? Basically special "1 tile wide" water spots...but it is just a graphical look/change?

Go with shades of a few colors?
Neon Green, neon yellow, Neon Red.
Bright green/yellow/red
A darker green/yellow/red
And just choose colors that would look good and visible at 3 different shades, when backgrounded with the track

Honestly for the toolbar I like how it currently works. But that is in part because I get the toolbar upgrade, specifically, to upgrade my inventory.
If you give us back the lost inventory space as inventory I'll be ok with it. Otherwise I'd like to be able to pull up just my inventory on the side ...

I agree on an assembler feeling too cheap for purple science..
I like the idea of energy conducting being used in a pack..how about a substation, or multiples of an electric pole? I think those things tend to be automated anyway.

Adding on that I also have this issue.
As well as a few others, some have reported this seems to be specific to the steam version, I'm right now downloading the .15 installer to check there.

What is the specs on the machine running the linked imgur album factory? o.o
And can we get that factory released to the public? I really want to see will/xterm/mojo do a factory fixit on the factory

I'd like to put in a very simple 2 cents when it comes to the night vision stuff.
We are assuming technology equal to or better than what we currently have right?
Here is a video for a night vision camera (I think it captures to a screen), the video was released last year and was shot at night for ...

Well..this'll make MojoD, Xterm, and Will happy once it comes out..as they love trains...and are working on a mod that simulates .15....and have gone crazy with the trains O.ORailway building optimizations (Rseding)

Re: Factorio achievements proposals
I'll agree..we need a few 'are you actually playing this game' achievements for noobs and chieve collectors..but I would like achievements to actually be for doing more than 'just' playing the game and making progression. I'd like to see achieves for play that is above and beyond normal. So this'll ...

You realize you spent over an hour in a chat discussion about factorio...discussing what it would take to make a 'train defense' (using trains to kill biters near your base).

are you sure the conditions on Smart inserters are Or'ed together?
I have a setup where a single inserter watches on red if a box has >3 logic bots, then watches on green if it has >0 construction bots.
The thing only triggers when the box it's watching has both >3 logic bots and >0 construction ...

Actually it depends on how this is done.
More than likely 'biter activity' relies not on the player specifically (though in some cases it might seem to) but instead on an 'active area' with the active area based on the location of the player. Ideally your computer would not computer biters outside ...

Editable signs, labels, and similar.
The suggestion first..then a long line of reasoning.
We need something that has editable text (similar to train stations and how you can change their names). I'd say around a tweet worth of letters? (140).
Perhaps bigger signs than that as well, but around 140 seems perfectly. Labels would be ...

I need to watch the fixit still but.
I took a look at his train system myself. Another big issue I saw was honestly the friggin 3 engine, 6 cargo trains...those huge beasts, if they ever hit the wrong portion of the track, would immediately gum up the works, and cause a hault to the system.
