Yep, can confirm - downloading it from the site and simply unpacking it over the old version, worked correctly.

Confirming same issue, openSUSE 13.1 x86_64 here. Just updated to 0.11.17 a few days ago from a clean download of the last 'stable' release, and no mods installed (yet!)

I've been experiencing a similar issue.
openSUSE 12.3 64-bits, Intel Core2Quad Q6600 2.4GHz, 8GB RAM, nVidia GeForce 8600 GT (don't ask...).
