Re: [Request] Longer nights.
I would think you would have to adjust some parameters for accumulators for this to work better with the current balance of the game. Basically just increasing the capacity of accumulators by the factor you increase the night/day cycle. It would suck to have 30+ minute nights, and need to have masse...

Whats the hardest setting thats barely beatable?
Playing in hard mode (alien settings maxed) for the first time, with no starting coal to boot, I didn't have a hard time setting up the base and crawling toward victory. It wasn't that hard, just slow because of keeping pollution down. What could make this harder, so much so that it is borderline un...

Re: there should be programmer robots
Can't you do that already by changing the recipe yourself? How does telling a robot to change the recipe help? It could be tied to the red/green network, so when you reach a certain volume of one item, the bot kicks in and changes the recipe, which then outputs to a different chest. Example: in my ...

I thought that was the point. Automate yourself out of the equation, so you only ever worry about expansion and designing future factories!n9103 wrote:Seems like it could get way too complicated fast, but interesting idea.

Re: Robots making robots - Robot Factory
You should start the process with only 1 robot supplying everything, and have the output supply the roboport with the finished robots. Then see how quickly the production speed grows!

Re: [YouTube] Factorio Base Tours
Look at them before you record, but write down your initial reactions if you can't remember them for the video. It can make your videos more stream lined, and you might catch stuff you might otherwise miss while trying to talk at the same time you discover the map. I'd suggest not spending too much ...

Re: Quick loading of ammo into turrets
Faster loading without full automation: Put belts and inserters to these turrets, and a chest and inserter next to it. Fill the chest with 3/4 of your ammo (or whatever ratio) and let the machines do the rest!
Fastest option: Get laser turrets!

Re: How do you build a filter?
If you want to filter out specific items, pass every item through a chest, and for each chest have a smart inserter move the filtered items into another chest/belt. You may have to use a regular inserter for the output so the smart inserter always gets the first stab at the input item, so it will be...

Re: Tips & Tricks
I'll have to update this later, but id like to submit a tip production item management using a 3 belt system. 6 items can be fed along 3 belts, and individually removed and rearranged as needed using underground belts. I typically use 3 belts aligned as follows: Iron+gears, copper+copper wire, steel...
