To reproduce the desync: throw some fuel rod inside the reactor (1 is enough) by hand or by the automatic system (disabled to avoid "unwanted" desyncs). The majority of clients will desync after half second.

When I turn on a small nuclear reactor in my server one or more players keep crashing until the temperature has gone back to 500°.

With great pleasure I can say that today, with the version 15.1, all problems are gone! We still don't know why, but it doesn't matter: it's great anyway to play Factorio.

Since you tried the usual stuff already, I would test if other games have the same issue.

I notice only now: is it common that the gui rendering took 60% of the rendering time? Or had I misunderstood those numbers?

I have only one screen not rotated and now I tried with compositing feature disabled but it does not change.
