Re: Friday Facts #314 - 0.17 stable
So now that the thought of "optimizing for convenience and streamlining the experience doesn't make a game better" sunk in can we revert basic oil processing to output heavy, light and petroleum? ;) I was waiting for someone other than me to point this out. As far I feel, the 'new' Basic ...

Re: Friday Facts #309 - Controversial opinions
Remember that since we are focusing on 1.0, these ideas are currently nothing more than a cause for heated discussions in our office. But let us know what you think (on our forum) and maybe we will change our mind based on the feedback. (maybe after 1.0...) Boy oh boy .... you should have taken not...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes
5. It absolutely helps, it makes the basic one work indefinitely until you want some light or heavy from it. And since you unlock the tools to fix the problem along with unlocking the problem, it's much better. That part I agree with. But my solution would be to have cracking as an Red+Green tech w...

Re: Version 0.17.63
Why is there no mention to changes to fluid box connections in entities? There definitely was some change, since several mods broke due to it. Aren't Release Notes THE designated place for announcing changes? The other thread is nice, but it should be in addition to the release-notes, not instead o...

For future reference.
Until today, factorio ranked 2nd right behind Portal2 on Steam.

Re: Version 0.17.60
I'll just mention that the only real use for light oil was making efficient solid fuel previously. How much of it did you really spend for flamethrower? I fed my outpost's flamethowers exclusively with light oil. That was an everpresent option A all the way until today's final discussions. Not bett...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes
I know I know, it's a wall of text (and pictures), but I haven't read anything that took all that what Antaios wrote into account. V, all the others please don't waste time into changing oil - there is so much more to do for .18 or even 1.0 ... it's not broken, you don't need to fix it. I don't unde...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes
I’ve been considering two alternatives, one of which I have even implemented, but it does not work. [..]Reverting the sulfur in science would help this for sure[...] [..]Maybe I could find a new place that would consume petroleum gas[..] [..]I’ll give it some more thought and try to implement the s...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes
“Pushing robots back is not fun.” This was pretty much my first response when I first heard about the whole idea, but now I’d say it’s really not that huge difference between late logistic and early blue science, especially with the basic refinery being quicker to set up. I will be observing this v...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes
You're foolishly trying to change the game to satisfy people who don't want to play this kind of game but as long as you don't retroactively break Factorio 0.16 I'm happy. Hit the nail on the head there. That's pretty much exactly what these recent change posts are. Edit: Wube. I have a question fo...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes
But when it comes to blue science, suddenly we get a long chain of new things requiring A LOT of time investment before any actual progress made toward the goal (blue science pack). Long time taking tasks with no intermediate rewards kills the fun. That are the factors that contribute to it This po...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes
Allowing the player to select individual recipes (heavy or light or petroleum gas only) would allow to completely avoid using Advanced oil processing. That's surely dumbing it down significantly. Adding flare stacks has the same effect of making Advanced oil processing completely optional additiona...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes
I don't really understand the argument of "it's making the game simpler" and I feel like many people take it in the "git gud" way - "we understand it, make newcomers suffer too" (I don't assume all of people who posted this argument think along those lines, but I'm get...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes
One of the less complicated but still contributing factors is that suddenly there is 5 different fluids that you need to do something with, and they go into 5? I only count 4 (for new players): Crude, Heavy, Light Oil and Petroleum, that's it. But that's just nit-picking. I don't really understand ...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes
And food for though: Assuming basic oil outputs only heavy, I was able to whip up a setup that outputs all 3 oils in under 60s without needing to know ratios, without having to worry about bottle necks, etc: https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/139677590393716737/601849142402351125/unknown.png ...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes
Really surprised by the oil change. Feels like a completely bizarre retrograde dumb-down to be honest, coming out of the blue. Fortunately modding it back again won't be much work. This. The oil-simplification ist just way over the top. The 2nd Oil and soon to be Water-input change is very apprecia...

Re: [0.17.54] First load of game after update leads to inventory being spread out on the floor
Oh, it's highly reproducable. It happens on each and every update (at least since .17.50)
Unfortunately I only have the .17.53 save as of now...
But the priority of it might be somewhere near zero, unless some of you guys get really bored
Have a great even.....oh shit... 1:25am?

[0.17.54] First load of game after update leads to inventory being spread out on the floor
It's very likely that it is completely my fault (because of my "mod" ValandirsTweaks, see attachments), but it did not happen with 0.16 and I don't recall it happening prior to maybe .17.50? Unfortunately I don't remember exactly when it did NOT happen the last time. What happens / how to ...

Re: Version 0.16.24
hm.... as long as it's only in experimental, "Opt-out" is fine.
But when you go stable with the version, it might be better to let users Opt-in
