Re: Possible to see breakdown of time usage by entity?

I've wondered this too. We've hit the wall with our maps every time now. I would be great to know if some entities should be preferred over others. I assume we need to go more trains vs belts if at all possible, and it does seem that using more logistics over belts too.

Re: Performance increase tips [slow fps]

Is there a way to count the belts in your factory? We ran into some serious lag in our first MP 15.x map and we're getting again on this current map. This current map is bigger, but since we're running Bob's we've had to rely on way more logistics bot and before (super spaghetti since we never did g...

Re: (0.15.16) Rocket silo research is not available

Looks like Bob's has a broken dependency. I'm doing a full Bob's run and power and warfare are both needed as prerequisites for the silo. Send this to the Bob's thread.

Re: Headless startup problems

Well, I managed to get my server back up. I was trying to ad some admins to the server, but I guess you can't just do that from the config files. Or, I'm doing it wrong. Either way, when I took those changes out it started working again.

Re: Laggy headless, why?

Well, it's not as simple as the data is immediately ready to write out to a file. I assume it's having to do some kind of translation or compression as it writes it out. I remember reading in a FF that they were able to get save files down to almost half size. So, there's something going on in what'...

Re: Laggy headless, why?

A 400 MB game file? Are you sure about that? Our large factories in our MP server only come in around 25mb.

Or, would you care to share a save? I'm curious what's taking up that much space.

Re: Server lag

Not sure what kind of stats would be useful. Made note of some of the bigger numbers. This is from our previous 15.10 game. Bots: Logistics: 13k Construction: 4.7k Sprites: 5152 Total entities: ~841k Active: ~88k Connectors: 1.5m Chunks: 9193 Pather calls: 23k I'll post the 15.11 current game after ...

Re: Server lag

We started another MP game on a different server. The save file has gotten to around 20mb in size (not sure how else to measure map size). We're starting to get lag again. So, now we have two games where the lag has gotten pretty bad on a large factory. We're going to try to test disabling the logis...

Server lag

A few days ago, before .15.10 came out, our dedicated server started lagging pretty bad. We updated to .15.10 and things were better for a few minutes, but now we're lagging pretty bad. Our map save is still under 20mb, though we did just explore a ton of the map on a semi-large factory. We're not s...

Re: Friday Facts #168 - Nightvision Nightmare

How about some tiers on the lights to provide distance of illumination? Or, has that been tried?

I like the idea on the third take. It was also what got me to think about research that would let you extend the throw of the lights.
