Re: Effective exploration with RSO mod

Yep, coal patches are tiny (in my map) but very rich. Will have to upgrade miners to extract quickly given I wont be able to put many on the patch.

Re: Effective exploration with RSO mod

I just started a game with RSO as I like the concept but since I just started will see. I actually walked a great distance from my starting point and uncovered the map in all directions. My main objective was to find another patch of coal. I noted coal is very sparse but the other materials I found ...

Re: Can you prevent bugs from spawning?

Just to be clear - the nests don't "Spawn". Periodically, a group of biters will travel from an existing base, to a new, nearby location. Once they arrive there, they'll wait a short time, and then morph into a new base. And the great cycle of life will continue. But there's no magic or t...

More survival requirements

Add survival needs that are based on resources collected. Not sure how this would work (especially at beginning) but something that your survival is dependent on. Obvious things would be food/water but maybe your suit needs special crystals to filter out pollutants or create breathable air.

Can you prevent bugs from spawning?

I'm thinking no but curious what the logic is for spawning. They dont spawn inside your base so is there a radius around structures that they can not spawn?

left click spam

Every so often when I left click it goes crazy as if the button is stuck. Mostly happens when laying track but does occur at other times. Thoughts? Hardware or software issue you think? Anyone have this? I saw someone on youtube have the same issue which makes me think its the game (plus no issues e...

Re: Bobs Mods Oil Rail Tanker

Bob's Mods has an oil tanker? =s I couldn't find it. But this is a question for the mod's forum really, it depends entirely on how the mod works. Can you signal it in any way? If all else fails you could wire up two power switches, one for a pump in either direction, and only enable whichever needs...

Train station logic

I have it set to inventory empty or 5 seconds of inactivity. 5 seconds of inactivity goes by and it still sits there. What does inactivity mean? I assumed if the inserters werent taking material from the cargo. Is it something else? EDIT Never mind. Had a different issue that was causing the train n...

Bobs Mods Oil Rail Tanker

I have been using the oil tanker and wondered if I can have a station that is both pickup and deliver. The only idea I had was to add a cargo container to each train (opposite positions), this way the each tanker rolls up to a different spot. Is there a better way that I'm missing? Is there some way...

Addicted to this game

This is an impressive game for being early access. I have yet to come across bug (system that is). I have almost 400 hours into the game and feel like I have much more to do with Bob's Mod's installed. I have never played a game this much before. And to think this game isnt even completed. Just...wo...

How to use wires on total inventory count

I want to control inserter based on my total inventory count, not just the depositing chest. I know the roboport can transimit the inventory of the network but how do I set it up? Does the inserter have to be wired to a roboport?

They look like little tanks. Do they stay in one location? Can they follow you? Can you instruct them to move?

Managing total number of bots

I have automated the construction of bots. What i would like to do is have an inserter insert into a port whenever the total number of all bots fall to a certain number. I tried using wire but (as expected) it only counted the bots in that port, not all bots (all my ports are linked by the way). Is ...

Re: Lithia water

as for "pipe length", theoretically you can have "unlimited" length of pipe, just long pipes take longer to balance, since each segment has own buffer, but when all segments are full, as long as "drain" is not higher than "supply", it will work. Ok, that make...

Re: Lithia water

The small pump actually has a maximum of 30 fluid/second, not per tick. Offshore pumps will pump water at 60 fluid/second and steam engines consume water at 6 fluid/second (hence the 1 offshore pump - 10 steam engines ratio). More info on small pump performance and long distance piping can be found...

Re: Lithia water

Each small pump has a maximum of 30 fluid/tick moved through it, so you need a few pumps in parallel to avoid crippling the flow rate. This is the part that confuses me a little. I noticed when a pipe is full it shows it has 10 units in it. How does this relate to "30 fluid/tick" throughp...

Re: Lithia water

pumps just "split" pipe into segment and draw fluid from one side, and push it to other. small pump can only push at speed 30u/sec (or 0.5u/tick), while pipe troughput is 60u/sec (or 1u/tick), so you need 2 pumps in paralel to maximize output. under normal conditions (without pump), game ...
