Re: [1.1.82] Cannot run Factorio from virtio-fs under Windows
Running a native linux game, which has killer features specifically for linux, on a windows VM, can't make that up When you say it like this it sounds pretty ridiculous, you are right. I am usually running it under Linux for multiple reasons, one of which is the better performance when using mimall...

[1.1.82] Cannot run Factorio from virtio-fs under Windows
Hi, I have a Win 10 (21H2/19044.2965) Virtual Machine on Linux with KVM/qemu and I am using virtio-fs for storing my steam library. When trying to launch Factorio I get the following error: factorio virtio-fs.png Translated to english it says something like: weakly_canonical: There is no file system...

Re: [0.17.58] Screen flickers with other window in foreground
I am using Server 2016 which is still supported with the newest version being 1607, as it happens I am downloading a patch called 2019-07 ... right now. (I use Win Server as I use deduplication, Hyper-V and also because I like not having to install upgrades which broke things for me twice already on...

[0.17.58] Screen flickers with other window in foreground
Recently I realized that Factorio starts to flicker as soon as another window or even a small Discord notification is in the foreground. The flickering is just a completely black window intead of what factorio should usually show. The frequency ist about 5-10Hz. In the start screen it is only showin...

I like: - Personal laser defense and destroyer capsules getting researchable damage bonuses - The changes to the military techs in general I don't like: - yellow science required for personal roboport as I like using it "early" for building rails and some repairs - the increase of copper r...

Re: Friday Facts #231 - Belt compression & Crash log uploading
Do you have an affected Ryzen processor yourself for running tests on? Nope, we were thinking of possibly getting one. But the issue is still very rare and we will most probably not be able to trigger the crash on our computer. Last time we got and AMD computer with weird hardware we did a few test...

Re: [0.16.25] Belt decompresses after double splitter.
The left-most 0 is because there's nothing in front of that splitter - it can't push forward - therefore, doesn't it make sense that anything behind that can't push forward either? (It's backed up). You are just looking at one input and one output in this consideration but you have to look at both ...

Re: [16.25] Splitter input priority not working with two outputs
Ok, you are talking about how it is currently implemented and why this is not working without looking ahead for items (which could even be removed by te player before arriving), Consider this setup: sync.png When you enable both belts at exactly the same time, you can see that both output belts are ...

Re: [16.25] Splitter input priority not working with two outputs
in an output belt that's already incapable of meeting the demand. I'm not 100% sure if we are talking about the same thing here. Both output belts can be filled to maximum compression from just the prioritized input belt (as long as it is also compressed). Which can actually be achieved by just rem...

Re: [16.25] Splitter input priority not working with two outputs
I think the new item-blind splitters make investigating this simpler than it would have been before, fiddling with output belt types and splitter priorities on this setup 0eNqtl2FvsyAQgP8Ln3HhbLXWv7IsjdXbRqJgAJc1jf99oEu7rF168L6fjILPnSc8p2d27CccjVSO1WcmW60sq5/PzMo31fThmjuNyGomHQ6MM9UM4Qw/R4PWZs40yo7...

Thanks for the explaination. Maybe displaying something like "25 to 50" (or whatever it is) would avoid the confusion.

[kovarex] [0.16.25] Splitter input priority not working with two outputs
I noticed that input priority on splitters doesn't work if two outputs are connected. GIF.gif Both inputs are compressed red belts, both outputs are yellow belts. One workaround ist placing two splitters behind each other with just one belt connecting them. It gets more complicated if the peak throu...

double getVolume() const { return 100 * this->baseArea * this->height; } void setVolume(double volume) { this->baseArea = volume / (this->height * 100); } I don't know if you use double for all liquid calculations but if you do, maybe you could increase performance a little by using float instead? ...

Re: [kovarex] [for 0.16] [0.15.31] Chain signal path locking/changing/deadlocks
The detection was changed from "is a chain signal reserved" to "was the last signal passed a chain signal". Are you talking about the detection if a train is disallowed to repath? So if the described condition is true, repathing is not allowed? This would be awesome :-), finally...

Maybe it is already fixed but just for new splitters? This one was probably set to be a priority splitter in 16.20.

[kovarex] [0.16.24] Pririty-Splitter not putting items on empty lane
No mods used. I just stumbled upon a splitter issue: a splitter has one input belt with two full lanes and two output belts. The output belt with priority is blocked completely, the one without priority however just gets items on one of its lanes. It can be fixed by: - rebuilding the input belt - re...

Re: [kovarex] [0.16.1] Items on belt creeping forward at specific position
I'm seeing the effect with something I am working on, but much more pronounced. Would you be so kind as to do the effort to blueprint your layout? From the video I cannot see the creeping and also cannot rule out the circuit network being at fault. It's easy to see as soon as you spot what to look ...

Re: [0.16.22]backpressure glitch (?)
It took me al while to understand what you mean because at first I just looked at what the splitters do. Especially when watching insterter #8 and the splitter above it I always see a free output on the splitter but still it somehow seems to decide to not accept input for a short time. This ist what...
