Re: The quality system needs a redesign
Yes, these would be nice, but the cost is simply to high for that small change they do. Doesn't feel like a reward. There is artillery. Artillery feels like a reward. And there are spidertrons. Spidertrons feel like a reward. And spidertrons with explosive rockets. All you need. And without ...

Re: The quality system needs a redesign
This is the crucial flaw in the quality mechanic in my opinion: there is no reason, there is no path, there is no goal, there is no reward (I don't see an achievement a reward).
At least not until you already have everything, but then it's not desirable any more to create anything except legendary ...

Re: The quality system needs a redesign
Waiting for legendary is an individual choice. I didn't and used rare stuff in my armor and also am producing epic stuff right now while I still haven't been on Vulkanus. There are players who value the journey and there are players who look only for what they call the "end-game" and everything ...

Re: Gleba has killed the game for me.
There are weapons in Factorio that can easily deal with hatched eggs. Even on a space station or on Nauvis.
Ok, you CAN make things unpleasent, for example by producing biter eggs on Nauvis by feeding the biter spawner at full speed while not having a way to destroy surplus eggs with a ...

Re: When you research Epic or Legendary quality, how do you prevent your existing upcyclers from suddenly clogging?
If you want to avoid changing your factory later you have to add those inserters and splitters to sort out higher qualities directly from the start. Luckily you can add filters that simply say "anything above rare".

Re: How to set speed of space platform?
I am using the same method as you.
Maybe someone else knows a better way, but the most basic way I can think of to get a specific stable speed would be to let the rockets run at full speed and then add more width to the space ship until it is slowed down to the speed you want.

Re: How do you deal with emptiness after "finishing" the game?
I have a few hundred hours in my current save, with the goal to megabase and get all prod research to level 30. After getting everything legendary and hitting a ceiling in terms of setups/items, the game honestly became boring and felt more like a chore to play and do stuff. The climb was much ...

Re: Quality killed this game for me
Our current electronic chip production (computer-ICs etc.) is, if you want to call it that, the same gamble as Factorios quality. When TMSC or Intel start with a new process their yield of working chips starts somewhere in the single digit percentages, the rest is (hopefully) recycled or thrown away ...

Re: Gleba has killed the game for me.
More or less a copy-paste of what I said in the other topic with a similar name, but about quality:
The devs forced their gambling addiction on us.
There are tons of mods that add fridges or similar systems, but not in the base game.
There is one mod that removes the timer completely (you can ...

Re: Version 2.0.45
I find it strange that you can get achievements with arbitrary mods enabled. Any setting that were forbidden could then be added by a mod. How do speed runners check that no (self-made) mod is used to make shortcuts? The published save-game I suppose?
For "normal" players I suppose achievements ...

Re: [Poll] Would you be happy to pay for more official planets and expansions?
Which i thought was quite the elegant way to recognize that many of your complaints cames from the fact that you were adding unecessarily tedium on yourself by avoiding purposedly sometimes and sometimes by inexperience the tools devs put the games for the players.
For example it was explained ...

Re: Version 2.0.45
I think there may be merit to this line of thinking, but I do think there's a flaw with it: players can jack up all the resource patch stuff to maximum (or to a minimum, for Mining with determination concerns). If the idea is to have the achievements be obtained on an equal footing for all players ...

Ok, so this change is ...

Re: Version 2.0.45
I think @Nataly171 makes very good points. Who is benefiting from the fact that you can't get achievements when disabling or modifying biters? Playing with no threats is a 100% valid way to play the game and players who choose that shouldn't have otherwise unrelated parts of the gameplay ...

Re: Severe lack of explanations in game!
While we talk about tutorials: In my view tutorials and tips&tricks that are not actively searched for by the player are a bad idea, unless they are about the UI. Part of the fun in this game is experimenting with and finding out about ever new ways how to use and combine everything in the game ...

Re: Severe lack of explanations in game!
The important information (for example which chest does what and how stuff works) does not need to be googled. The (official!?) factorio wiki has it.

Re: [Poll] Would you be happy to pay for more official planets and expansions?
Again this depends on what you see as your goal and your finish line. If reaching aquilo or the asteroid belt is your goal then yes. But if that is your goal you don't need biolabs and then you could use Gleba as your science hub.
This part illustrates my point, particularly "if the asteroid ...

Re: [Poll] Would you be happy to pay for more official planets and expansions?
Essentially you want the important techs earlier so that you already have them when they could be useful for your factory. You want to build a factory on each planet once in its finished state and never touch it again. Research then should unlock the next stages for the next planet only. A fully ...

You have achieved to convinced me that you have no argument to adress the fact that if you don't have to unlock techs you don't have purpose for building a factory that makes science.
Did you even attempt to understand my point of view? Be honest with yourself.
I think I understand what ...
