I have a idea with the supercapacitors in electric trains. They would allow to charge up on the train stops very quickly and run up on the gathered power. I strongly disagree with you.
One of the best parts of the Factorio is that original "dieselpunk" technology theme.
The "clean" and "edgy" machines would be worst graphical thing to implement there.
