Nevermind, I found the broken graphics thread and it enabled me to fix the problem.

Playing on an iMac with OSX 10.10.3, I downloaded the demo version and it played just fine. Purchased a copy and after I go through the menu, play, new game, generate map, the screen gets all broken and the game is unplayable. Looks like this;
