Re: Friday Facts #427 - Combat Balancing & Space Age LAN

"Did the little stone poops make the game fun? Is rock droppings a core part of the game design?" I have not posted in quite some time, and probably will not play again until the DLC comes out and I spend another 1000 hours creating automation. I would like to comment that I actually appre...

Re: Friday Facts #331 - 0.18.0 release & Train pathfinder changes

As a follow-up to my previous response to the fluid system *still* not being fixed, and the news that it isn't even planned for 1.0 (which generally means never), I have removed my positive review on Steam, as well as removing it as my favorite game on my profile. The developers know that the fluid ...

Re: Friday Facts #331 - 0.18.0 release & Train pathfinder changes

I am not at all pleased that fluid improvements have been pushed back again . Factorio doesn't have very many 'bad' aspects to it, but the fluid system is absolutely one of them. Dominik said in FFF #274: "This time it is pretty much finished so I can tell you facts instead of just speculations...

Re: "Safe mining" - protection from loss of items

While I understand the desire to not accidentally pick up a storage tank of fluid, I think it would be abhorrent to literally deny the player the ability to do so until they managed to disperse the fluids. I can't see how "in order to prevent you making a mistake, I've taken away the ability fo...

Re: How to get a job in the games industry?

Someone struggling with depression finds a light at the end of their tunnel which they enjoy, and your advice is to tell them 'no?' Better, it hurts now a little than later a lot and someone really had to warn him. Also it was only a No to making it his job. As a hobby it can actually be lots of fu...

Re: How to get a job in the games industry?

So now, having been on sick leave due to depression for 6 months I have finally found something (again) that is interesting to me. That is games, and games development. Just don't. The games industry is on par with healthcare when it comes to overtime and burning through "human resources"...

Add output graphics to BOP Refinery for the unused outputs

One proposed complaint about the .17.60 BOP change, is that people won't know to leave space for future liquids. If the recipe for BOP stated that it output 45 Petroleum, 0 Light Oil and 0 Heavy Oil, along with graphics for LO and HO future outputs, this complaint would be nullified. To ensure clari...

And there you have it. Only one dev was willing to discuss this major change with the community. That should remove any doubt that this was a dog-and-pony-show. I mean, I wouldn't exactly be enthusiastic to engage with the doom and gloom that's happening in this thread as a dev... Indeed. The Chick...

Just because they didn't implement YOUR particular suggestion, does not mean that they don't listen, or don't care, or were just going to do what they were always going to do anyways. Obviously they did not find arguments against this change compelling enough to agree with them. They've brought Fact...

Re: Version 0.17.60

Thank you for the update, including the oil change. As an EA game, none of the current complaints would even exist if this game had simply been released as 1.0 with no EA period at all. I still have complete faith that you know what you're doing, and after 1000+ hours of playing this game, these cha...

Re: Should standing next to an active reactor harm player health?

No. Why not? Because thinking that people get damaged by standing near nuclear reactors is ignorant and wrong. https://youtu.be/5QcN3KDexcU?t=407 hmm, standing next to a non-functioning reactor is totally different to standing next to a working reactor, because thinking that people would not get da...

Personal Roboport Area Tooltip

While hovering the mouse over either the "Toggle personal roboport" option, or modular armor with a Personal Roboport installed, it would be nice if the PR's area overlay would appear. Currently we are told what the working area is, but the actual size/shape is not shown (as it is when usi...

In your .gif examples, how would one make sure they have the best throughput every time? In other words, how would one start the inserter at the appropriate time to ensure the throughput is highest?

Re: Friday Facts #283 - Prepare to Launch

As you can see, there are a lot of things happening at the last moment, but it seems that there shouldn't be a big obstacle in the way of release next week. What about the 65 unassigned bug reports? I'm sure they're VERY thankful that you mentioned bug reports. I suspect they're so unfamiliar with ...

Any word on the release date? Also maybe graphics updates and such can go in minor version releases since they're unlikely to affect mods. Well, you JUST read the latest blog. Do you think they just forgot to mention a release date for .17? Or is it more likely that it isn't ready yet, and we'll ha...

Re: Friday Facts #280 - Visual Feedback is the king

Regarding the trains, is there a chance 'Cargo Inventory' checking can see the fuel in the train, so we can set up a station condition to visit a refueling depot if there is less than some arbitrary fuel value remaining? That cannot be done in the manner you desire. Fuel would have to be checked ag...
