The biggest question in my mind is what kind of spawn did you have? My current game spawned in the middle of a forest next to a huge lake, biters almost never attack and it's easy to keep their nests pushed back past the edge of the pollution cloud. As far as blue packs go, I think its not that huge, Steel, some oil, using stuff you're already making to make red circuits, filter inserters or whatever they are now which really arent that hard, just a few more factories, the batteries were always the worst if you ask me, because sometimes oil ...

The game is much more fun with biters maxed. With them turned down low, they were actually more intimidating since I never knew when they would attack and it was tempting to fight them off myself as repairs were cheaper than the investment in defenses, but rebuilding is depressing. Honestly, I think Solar just needs a nerf. We don't need to make solar useless to a megabase, even if it takes 2-5x as many panels to power the base it's not a big deal. What we really need are several intermediate layers of energy tech between steam and solar. We kind of have that with being able ...
