Re: Friday Facts #410 - Rocket turret & Target priorities
I do think they mean "initial" for the expansion. If I'm remembering correctly, sometime shortly after the first announcement they confirmed that you would always start on Nauvis, and when you went to space, you would have three "initial" planets to choose from, the order that y...

Re: Friday Facts #410 - Rocket turret & Target priorities
Unlocked on one of the three initial planets. Also alternate starts other than Nauvis confirmed. Kinda wasn't sure if we could start on one of the other planets before that. ^^ Hmm, I took this to mean one of the 3 after Nauvis, though clarification could be good here. True. It is not entirely clea...

Re: Friday Facts #410 - Rocket turret & Target priorities
Ah nice. Finally approaching tower defense games. xD Anyway I wonder how to properly set the target priority with circuit network. Kinda needs some proximity sensor or the likes that can give you signals depending on what kind of enemies, asteroids etc are close so that you can make a dynamic decisi...

Re: Space Age, Quality (and a little bit of elevated Rails)
What im asking for is a summary of what's already know. Well a complete summary is difficult because so much has been shown already. But I made a quick rundown: Space Age content: 4 new themed planets, 2 of which still have to be revealed Vulcanus: a hot lava-themed Planet Fulgora: A cold & dry...

Re: Liquid bus
Do you guys think it would be funny to use space age foundries on a LIQUID METAL BUS Well, that is how we are supposed to do it in the expansion endgame. ^^ But that said, I am still on the fence whether I will use Liquid Metal to make Gear Wheels, Copper Cables and other such things... because if ...

Re: Space Age, Quality (and a little bit of elevated Rails)
I may be wrong, but I would imagine that for the Quality "module" you need to have the Space Age "module" enabled as well. Exactly for the reason that otherwise they would have to make different research trees and possibly change/balance recipes for all the combinations. I would ...

Re: Railways β The pain of a perfectionist
Yup (although you could for dual track RHT ;)), but then you have folks asking for signals to be placeable right on the tracks instead of beside them, again pulling out the same pics as this OP did as justification. True. The ability to do it will likely build up to become its own precedence case w...

Because you cannot even place signals in between there if the rails are this close next to each other. So I doubt people will even make much use of the possibility in practice. ^^

Re: Railway stations β Hell for a perfectionist
Why is there an asymmetry in different directions? As Illiander wrote... It is the 1 tile offsets (from couplings) in a 2x2 grid which result in asymmetry when making stations in the opposite direction. Just let them fix it. To be honest I am not sure if they can fix that. The 1 tile offsets in a 2...

Re: Friday Facts #409 - Diminishing beacons
To be honest I don't know how to feel about the change. ^^ But mostly that is because it changes nothing about the meta. People will still do 12b/1m setups... or alternating rows of beacons & machines. Simply because that is the best you can do with the range Beacons have. There are only 2 thing...

Re: Techtonica makes me depressed. Factorio could be real 3D
Highly depents on the sprites. I remember the old days, the sprites would not be nice to revisit :D. Old nintendo games also look like shit, if you remove the nostalgia goggles. Can't help it. Even some games from the NES/SNES era I still find visually pleasing after all this time. xD Also highly d...

Re: Techtonica makes me depressed. Factorio could be real 3D
And here I am playing Factorio for one of the reasons because it has 2d sprite graphics. That is how opinions diverge. ^^ I always feel like stylized sprite based games have an age-less charm that cannot be replicated by full 3d games. They are like manga or comics. They don't age; somehow our brain...

Meh. This topic is still going on after all this time? ^^ But yea, as others wrote already... just make more fluid than is drained; then it will hardly be an issue. That said I don't know if they ever made the change to make each pipe-system act like one single big storage tank which providers input...

Been burned to many times by Devs. Believing is seeing. Sorry to the guys who will hate what I am saying because they maybe see Wube/ factorio as cant do wrong. [...] Look, the DLC releases in 4 months or the likes. You can surely wait until after the release. By then more Dev diaries will be out, ...

Re: Friday Facts #406 - Space Age Music
I don't know this must also take into account the relative speed of the platform and the asteroids, as if the platform move faster than any asteroid, then the "back" doesn't need any defence against incoming debris. I'm thinking of the triangular shaped starwars super destroyer. It would ...

Re: Friday Facts #406 - Space Age Music
I like the rocket turrets in the video in the space platform, i like the animation of the platform regrowing after getting hit, i think the shape of the platform is not very efficient because it will act like a space sweeper for asteroids, maybe it's the aim, otherwise orienting the rectangle the o...

Re: Friday Facts #406 - Space Age Music
No, just heavier than normal gun turrets. Having finally gotten the chance to watch the video and seeing the rocket turrets, those could be it (or there could be more). But they're not firing many rockets, so they could be low on ammo? And the platform may be moving a wee bit fast to give everythin...

Re: Friday Facts #406 - Space Age Music
Artillery clearly is unlocked: On one of the planets you can clearly see a rail artillery car moving with a train. Doesn't necessarily suggest that it is the same savegame because I am sure they have dozens of savegames in various states of a "typical" playthrough. At least I would not se...

Also that is one big frikkin Asteroid. How are you supposed to defend against those, the ton of Gun Turrets was clearly not enough! Probably have to upgrade the damage output or more likely... artillery. Maybe artillery isn't unlocked on that save yet to blast that one to pieces before it enters th...
