Was not aware of that trick. That is awesome, thanks a lot.
Still though, having it be on the belt itself would mean no extra foot print. I don't know squat about modding or programming so I'm not sure how easy it would be.

Controlling flow of the individual sides of transport belts
So what I mean is you can have one side of the belt stop at one spot and allow the other side to continue unhindered. After the blocked spot the transport belt functions normally.
