Re: Infinifactory by Zachtronics - 3D SpaceChem successor
Isn't factorio based heavily on spacechem? I thought that there were a couple of games that have kinda evolved from spacechem as the original. minecraft being the most notable. I think the proof is in the game. If it has its own personality and atmosphere, it will be fine. If the goal is to reach r...

Re: Infinifactory by Zachtronics - 3D SpaceChem successor
Looks good, and I believe it will be a puzzle game quite different from Factorio. However, considering that even the logo looks very, very much like Factorio's, then I can only expect fan forums burning with mutual rip-off claims, and gaming 'journalists' downgrading both based on what they lack com...

Re: Belt Spaghetti (my first real 'base')
I think the devs said they're going to fix the tier3 assembly machine to accept 5 (or even 6?) ingredients. Then you can build everything in assembly machines. however, you will have to produce advanced circuits and speed modules, which requires the whole oil industry. So making a reasonably small ...

Re: Belt Spaghetti (my first real 'base')
You have some of the weirdest factories that I have ever seen. Seriously, you need a roboport factory? Thank you. :D It is actually my first 'roboport factory', and I really need it due to the 20 or so different products it should be able to offload into a single car: https://lh4.googleusercontent....

Extending replayability with unlocks (Reus)
Today I (again) played Reus, and I had (again) a good time. - and that is actually surprising, as I do the same over and over each time I start a new game. So what is the hook? For me it is the unlock system . https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-vATY6V2fU6U/U3j2OYQYcjI/AAAAAAAAAzg/O1AoN0aZMDo/s1004/R...

Re: Belt Spaghetti (my first real 'base')
Heh, I was thinking about making a kind of similar post with a section of my first oil-based factory. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-IlgsySXT9Ok/U3jqSHjyvkI/AAAAAAAAAzE/9X8JZli8pnc/s1155/OilChaos.jpg It is by now a complete chaos, and I love every bolt of it. This first spaghetti factory was at ...

Re: Friday Facts #19
About music and sound. The game ’Pit Droids’ from Lucas Learning had a wonderful way of mixing sounds and music, where the rhythm of the game and the music was in synch, so the sound effects became part of the music. I’m not sure it will fit Factorio however. Pro: It makes the sound and music work ...

Re: Friday Facts #10
The amazon drone video already seems viral, but if you haven't seen it yet, then it is very 'Factorio logistic robot'-ish.

Re: Friday Facts #4
Hi
Just posting to say that I really like these updates.
It makes me appreciate a game even more, when I'm aware of all the small hidden thoughts that goes into the game.
It reminds me of the blog on Clockwork Empires that Gaslamp is doing:

Keltic Knotwork
I got this idea about using belt and tunnels for 'Keltic Knotwork', and it worked! :D https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-cGLAg6Lcx5Q/Uk2sFfnHlAI/AAAAAAAAAyE/Ujsb83SjtBs/s800/8donedone.jpg And it looks quite cool when in motion. This design is rather open so it is possible to clearly see the lanes, b...

Re: Version 0.7.0
I've been playing the .7 alot, and I really like it. :) The polution system gives the game a new and even better feel. I.e. you are alone on a hostile world, - to survive you need to build up a production line, but doing so will expose you. I love this kind of 'stealth strategy', that reminds me of ...

Re: Rail Kill
Or only cross by night? ;) The sweeping headlight from the engines is so simple, yet it adds so much atmosphere (feeling / flavour) to the game. On a serious note, then I could imagine that we might get tunnels sometime, that could be used for save crossings. We already have underground belts and pi...

Mixed belts
It's been a great summer, - even with time for some factory design. I usually make my transport belts only carry the same items in each lane to avoid blockings, but my goal this time was to have a fully flexible flow with a single looping belt carrying everything . Overview: https://lh6.googleuserco...

Re: Factorio <> Industry Giant 2
(I also played IG2, and yes, Factorio have the same pleasure from just watching when flows work. :) ) It may be possible to get close to this by modding the reactions, so that the ‘science’ requires different ‘consumer end products’. You can then imagine that the factories producing the sciences are...

Re: My first sandbox factory pictures
Thank you for your comments and kind offer for helping with redwire. I will expriment on my own, and then probably come back with questions. My smelting area in the first factory was not very structured, so today (at work :geek: ) I couldn't help to think about a compact design with the following go...

My first sandbox factory pictures
Hi all This is my first post, and it is mostly just to say that I really really like this game. So here is the most advanced part of my first sandbox. - the next step is to experiment with better control than just 'produce till the belt is full' :-´) https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Kf2os6sSqG8/US...
