Re: Sushi and Spagetthi

Love it!

That looks like a fun "out of the box" build. Awesome work :)

That's great!

I mean don't get me wrong, it's absolutely insane. But in a great way :)

is it not in the EULA?
Either you just successfully trolled me into reading the terms again, or I'm blind and I don't see it.

Re: Friday Facts #360 - 1.0 is here!

Congratulations on the launch! I'm sure the dev team might still be in a bit of a stressed state, waiting to see how 1.0 works out, if there any any crazy bugs, etc. Fingers crossed that it's a smooth one. That being said, when we do get past the post-launch anxiety, I think now is a good time to do...

What's the plan for 1.0?

Assuming I am reading the latest FF correctly, tomorrow (In less than 24 hours because time zones) is the official release of version 1.0 of Factorio. Yet I'm not seeing a whole lot of activity here on the forum, the reddit, twitter, the official steam listing for the game, etc. doing a whole lot to...

Re: Friday Facts #356 - Blueprint library for real

The changes look like they're thoughtfully moving in the right direction as always, awesome! As for the motivation part: We've all been there (Or will eventually...). Remember that it's perfectly normal, and not a sign of you doing a bad job in some way. I'm glad something eventually came around to ...

Re: Friday Facts #352 - New website

100% agree with the framework bloat problem. It's like you cannot make a website these days without 5000 node.js dependencies, absolute madness.

Re: Canonical web resource of versions

Is there any documentation explaining what “alpha” means in this context? Is it the full game client? It means the same as it does on https://factorio.com/download - "Alpha is the standard full-featured build." Awesome! That’s exactly what I was looking for :) On another note, do we have this, and ...

Re: Canonical web resource of versions

It was meant as a temporary solution. html is machine readable (just need the right lib to parse it) dunno which language he’s (she?) programming, but this kind of simple list is parseable with simple regex-stacking. It’s a BTN solution - of course. That’s definitely a possible temp solution. As ot...

Re: Canonical web resource of versions

Something like this : https://updater.factorio.com/get-available-versions ? Yes! It's a great start, although I think it could do with a few modifications for these kinds of purposes. It lists which version is currently "stable", but not explicitly which is "latest". Secondly it lists the update pa...

Canonical web resource of versions

This is part question part idea, as I don't know if it's already easily attainable somewhere. As someone who runs a server using a Docker container I've created myself, I'd love a way to automate the process of building a new container, when a new version of the game is out. My best idea currently i...

What's the point?
There is none, and that is exactly what appeals.
Agreed.

Similarly to Minecraft (And especially modded Minecraft, from which Factorio draws inspiration), the point is to play the game, and have fun with it.

Re: Friday Facts #331 - 0.18.0 release & Train pathfinder changes

We made 0.18 a major version because it will break mods with all the changes we are making, and while initially it hasn't broken that much, many things to come will have a bigger impact, such as the Character GUI. Does this mean that later 0.18.x releases will break mods again? I think you should t...

What the Frick. If you're going to disagree with people, at least do it in a respectful manner. And please understand that different developers work in different ways. Just because this works for you, doesn't mean you should undermine that others may be of a different opinion. What I and @Hanse00 s...

Nope, we definitely want it to be explicit.
I totally understand wanting to be explicit in supported versions, but can we explicitly support multiple?

Eg.

Code: Select all

"factorio_versions": ["0.17", "0.18"]

Allow a single mod version to support multiple factorio versions

Perhaps this has been discussed in the past, and I was unable to find it. If that's the case, my bad. I'd like to see my mod be able to support multiple factorio versions out of the box, by making the "factorio_version" variable in the info.json a list. This is so that, in those cases where factorio...

0.18 not listen as major version

Hey peeps!

I would fix this myself, but I haven’t created myself an account yet.
On the page: https://wiki.factorio.com/Version_history, 0.18 is listed as a minor version of 0.17, rather than its own major version.

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes

What happens when people realise 1 belt split between coal and iron isn't enough? That electric furnaces are larger than coal ones? That you actually need a lot more science production than you walled yourself into fitting? I would argue all these situations are at the core of the gameplay of Facto...
