Re: two belts on one tile width
Then you don't even have to cross pipes. Much luck in finding working layouts. :) for me this is just a side effect of a needed game mechanics. The game is 2D, but the reality is 3D and that has many reasons and one is, that you can cross pipes or whatever, cause they cross in different depth . I d...

Fish, the play through feels easy for you as it's early on. It gets harder. Also you are using laser turrets, those things are just OP lol ![Twisted Evil ](./images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif)

Re: Train Track DOH!!
Interesting solutions, going to take a look at the wiki you linked. Another strange thing that I noticed is the number of arms that can load a single car changes if the car has other cars connected to the front or back of it. Also trying to figure out exact spacing so you can layout an area before y...

All caught up on your hard mode man. It's getting there. Wondering why you aren't cracking your oil itself -vs- standard processing?
Enjoying the series.

Are they fast enough to fill a train car really quick? I generally use fast or smart inserters at my train bays. haven't tried long there.

Resistant Bugs
Make bugs that are resistant to different things. Essentially really need a bug that is resistant to laser fire and more susceptible to bullets. Of course make the turrets priority target the best option for them.
Reasoning: Help increase variety in turret use and add more variation.

Train Track DOH!!
That feeling you get when you get your 60 furnace up and running, Dumping all of their produce into nice chest to be picked up at a yet to be built train depot. Only to realize train tracks only place at every other inserter position and your ENTIRE setup is off by 1 square .... ![Crying or Very Sad ](./images/smilies/icon_cry.gif)

Re: Friday Facts #40
Love the new direction for the character model. Really fits with the industrial tone of the game. I agree however I don't think it fits on an alien planet may be a mask and air tank of some type Umm, we are colonizing the planet .... air tank means it's not really a colonization target. I like the ...

Re: Solar Panel return on investment
[Also, once you have a dozen oil wells with 0.1/s and filled with speed modules, you have free power for as long as you dont let the biters destroy your infrustructure. That doesnt mean the numbers and ratios are not worth discussing. To me it comes down to a single salient point .... Oil --> have ...

Map Generation resource grouping
Goal: Increase exploration and advanced base building Method: As you get farther out from the base the number of resource locations on the map get fewer and fewer but the size of them get larger and denser. Once you reach a certain threshold they don't get sparser or larger (max size essentially) Se...

Re: Adv. circuit - craftingTime rebalancing
I don't think it it a point of difficulty or constraint, though. I think it is a point of credibility - one machine suppling 18(!!) machines just feels "off", nothing more. Creating an automated supply chain does not become more difficult just because you need to place 4 assemblers instea...

0.10.1 Automatic Update Crash
Since I updated to 0.10.1 every time I start up factorio I get an automatic updates notification about scenario-pack 0.9.8 is not installed. If I choose update now it downloads then after applying wants to restart. Factorio then crashes on restart. Each time I start the game I get the same notificat...

Once you build a solar panel you have infinite free energy. So infinity / cost == free, not sure what there is to discuss there.Khyron wrote: This thread is about the energy cost of making solar panels and the return on investment.

Upgradeable walls would be awesome. Really would fit with the tech in the game. Allowing Iron to be used in level 2 for increased strength, steel level 3 more strength, copper / circuits etc level 4 to provide a powered shield type capability.

Re: Why are electric furnaces so expensive?
Heh yeah, I'm not even an environmentalist in real life. Lol. In real life, coal is only useful for the stored power inside of it. In factorio, you need coal for producing goods, and unlike oil, coal is finite. It just pains me to watch people shoot themselves in the foot and call it "legitima...
