There's no where that state you have to build the turrets from assembly machine. I build from hands 5 turrets, wipe out all nests and worms from the evacuation site, reclaim ressources, the mission never proceed I tried various combination of size magazines for turrets and never the missions proceed...

Or simply use the easy road and use @Klonan mod belt buffer, with luck it will make it's way to vanilla.
