Re: Friday Facts #261 - Performance + New player interaction
I like being told what the controls are for a game and then being allowed to figure things out on my own, with the ability to look into guides/ tutorials as needed. Maybe the best option though is to ask the player before they start how they want the tutorial to be, brief control description with ...

Re: Steam engine smoke low fps 0.15
I7-4790 CPU
16GB Ram
GTX 660 2GB GPU
Same problem, I'll drop to 15 FPS with 160 steam engines running, which is nothing as in .14 I had well over 500. Turning off smoke effect returns the game to 60 FPS.
Setting texture to normal gains 2 FPS, Setting it to low makes it return to 60 FPS.

Re: Train station skipping conditions
There is a way to shut down a Train Station.
This won't give the desired behaviour, as this will only prevent trains from entering the station when it is turned off, but they will wait until it is turned on.
The desired behaviour is that all trains that have the station in their schedule skip ...

Re: Train station skipping conditions
Hm if that is the impression I'm sorry. I'm currently not against this. Maybe some weeks ago. I think I pointed a little bit too strong to my opinion, that controllable trains isn't that useful as controllable train stops and run into a controversial discussion. I just brought to much of my own ...

Re: Train Recalculates Path in Roundabout Causing a Jam.
Odd, I thought it might have been a mod related bug so I tested it without mods, and it still locks for me.
Edit: Actually now that I just left it alone on 60x and waited for it it does eventually end up moving on with its original path. Though it shouldn't be stopping in the middle of chain ...

The Iron train will come down from the north and try to go south. While in the loop it decides it wants to to west instead effectively deadlocking itself.
This is repeatable, every 20 or so mins a train ...
