According to windows:
Total available graphic memory: 1,5GB
Dedicated memory: 192MB

Quite humble amount, but this gear should have handled a resolution change. My guess is screen is stretching and/or copies elements to new window clogging the memory.
My main PC has 2GB graphic and 8GB system ...
