Re: Friday Facts #236 - Building a rollup

my answer would be: "whatever" no offense against this highly valued game of yours. a picture is bad to describe a complex game like this at least to me. a player understand the "icons" and builds a person that doesn'T play the game will be able to understand the easy the stuff l...

Re: Friday Facts #225 - Bots versus belts (part 2)

i feel like you have overseen something important about bots: https://abload.de/img/power5qqt2.png maybe make power harder to get. i always have a feeling power get's ignored. and another thing bots are hard to use efficiently you need thousand of them so they can be spread evenly and over the base ...

Re: float point and why it is used in factorio

thanks for your answers. The linked solar-panel bug report has nothing to do with floating point "errors" and everything to do with converting a floating point value into an integer for display. It's not useful to see that a solar panel produces 9.9998 KW/tick of power - so it's converted ...

Re: float point and why it is used in factorio

I'm not sold about this:
Lua has no integer type, as it does not need it. There is a widespread misconception about floating-point arithmetic errors and some people fear that even a simple increment can go weird with floating-point numbers.

float point and why it is used in factorio

so i have noticed that numbers are shown wrong quite often in this game. the game has 60 ticks (integer) with some pretty complicated tricks you will never end up with a float point number. i know every powered element can run slower when not enough energy is present and if you have an uneven number...

Re: mixed field with uran can't be mind correctly

well looks like it will stay like this.
just place the miner in a way that i can't reach the uran and you are fine.

so this will stay as a RARE problem for newer players only. "where do i get sulfuric acid and why do it need it?" kind of problem.

Re: Friday Facts #191 - Gui improvements

I'm all for moving it into a tab, but, we still need a quick way of seeing which weapon we have equipped. I didn't make it very clear in FFF, you you can still see your active weapon and ammo, something like this, possibly attached to the quickbar: i would personally love to see all my weapons. i e...

Re: Not work codes 15.6

what hardware and driver are used and does 0.15.5 or older work?
what OS is used?
is the game modded?

do you only have problems with the command? or with other words what is the issue?

Re: serious FPS problem when steam is on the screen

you may check out the GPU driver and try it again.

it is now trivial for my 960 to render factorio with smoke the GPU load is so low it doesn't matter at all.
a 780 should have any trouble with smoke too.
i wouldn't be shocked if a modern iGPU can easily render the smoke.

Re: serious FPS problem when steam is on the screen

fixed with nvidia 382.05. i tested both factorio 0.15.6 and 0.15.7. i bring this up again if this happens again. factorio is not a no name indie game nvidia can ignore. I don't know, as I don't know anyone with a 960, but for all the cards that I have seen, it's a Yes! It may also not have anything ...

Re: i have a problem finding oil with 0.15.

I tried your example map string and I don't see the issue (starting area is the dot at the top center): so it is just me that has the feel it is more rare in the starting area. or let me say it with other words. i usually don't need to search for the first oil batch even with settings like that. so...

Re: mixed field with uran can't be mind correctly

the sulfuric acid is not there to get the uran out of the ground it is there to get the uran out of the rock with is done at the miner in the game. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leaching_(chemistry)

it can ignore "nothing" too.

Re: i have a problem finding oil with 0.15.

i can just create a new map but that's not what this topic is about.

i like to know if other people notice the same "problem" with more rare OIL in 0.15 than 0.14.

Re: mixed field with uran can't be mind correctly

it does work fine with sulfuric acid.

and yes this is an early miner getting the sulfuric acid to mine the coal is a lot of work. it should ignore the uran or even destroy it

well it is not there to mine uran and that is the problem. i want the coal and i don't care about the uran at all it is 718 uran...
i'm pretty sure it will mine the coal with sulfuric acid.
