Error is: Download failed: Couldn't parse the response as JSON: <html> <head><title>404 Not Found</title></head> ...snip... </html> I can connect to the internet just fine. I have turned by antivirus and firewall off and tested this again. I'm not sure what is going on. Any ideas on troubleshooting ...

tobe, Not the most useful bug report, but thanks nevertheless :D So the only other things I can think of are: Take the original save and give it to someone on windows to run locally. Have that person change all the belt out with underground belt then run it on a linux server...? Also, the save first...

This seems like an OS issue and not a Factorio issue.

You should check that your folder temp is writable by you.

Probably because of your router, NAT, firewall or other network component blocking the P2P traffic. Also you probably gave him your local IP address rather than your public IP address.

Oh, the other thing we did was disable the robot army mod because that was too processor intensive as well.
