Upon further further testing, you can also transfer heavy items between platforms using circuit controlled requests.
But not with the manual requests.

There is an event when space platform foundations are placed, and deconstructed, but none for when it is destroyed by asteroids.
This causes a problem for mods that need do stuff when space platforms foundations are removed.

1. Build a space platform and vanilla rocket silo. Enable automatic requests from space platforms.
2. Have the space platform request an item heavier than 1 ton. This is only possible with mods. There are two ways I have found:
